I donated a piece of art to the Largs Flower Show this year as part of their 185th anniversary which took place at the weekend. Here it is being handed to the winner by George Anderson from the Beechgrove Garden, well done Katrina!

The show takes place annually at the Dunn Memorial Hall in Largs and is always worth a visit! Lots of interesting, fun and beautiful entries to see, put it on your calendar for next year 😊

The tenants of the Courtyard Studios would like to say a big THANK YOU to all who visited our open event at the weekend, it was a great turnout! Lots of returning visitors which is always a good sign we are doing something right 😊.

Perhaps a sunset image of Irvine harbour may be a fitting image to end the weekend with so this is a recent oil painting by one of our artists, Alison Thomas, which won an award at this year’s North Ayrshire Open Exhibition.

This weekend I will launch my 2027 handmade mini calendars including this new design called ‘Scottish Lore’. They are £14 each and you can re-use them the following year. I will be offering free paper calendar replacements from July 2027, just pop in the studio and pick however many you need! Hope to see you at our open event tomorrow and Sunday 😊.

OPEN STUDIOS THIS WEEKEND! 🎨

Come along to Courtyard Artist Studios in Irvine Harbour this Saturday and Sunday, where 14 artists and makers will be opening their studio doors to the public.

Explore the studios, meet the people behind the work and discover painting, photography, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, leatherwork and more.

We’ll also have children’s activities, so bring the family and make a day of it. We’re right beside Irvine Beach, with a brilliant selection of cafés and restaurants on our doorstep.

This little owl is the latest in my handmade felt brooch designs. There will be more to see at our annual open studios event this weekend including work from another 13 artists showing paintings, jewellery, ceramics, textiles, leatherwork and photography.

Courtyard Artist Studios Open Studios returns on 1st & 2nd August 2026.

Come and explore the studios of 18 resident artists and makers, discover handmade work, chat with the artists, and see where creativity happens.

Across the weekend there will be children’s activities, studio demonstrations, and creative activities in some of the studios, making it a great day out for all ages.

This little Kitty has been inspired by my neighbours cat, Louis. He’s a bit of a loveable thug and he’s perfect for me as I’m allergic and can’t have a cat full time. He always in and out our house and never does as he’s told!

I will be showing this new piece at the summer solstice market tomorrow night, a great wee free night oot, hope to see you there 😊
