The Suburban Larder is about more than what’s in the jar or on the table. It’s about how things are made, sourced, and shared.

As a small-batch food business, seasonality, homegrown ingredients where possible, using what I can from the garden and hedgerows, supporting British farmers, always choosing free-range eggs, buying local when I can, and making better packaging choices all matter to me.

That might mean homegrown herbs and vegetables, foraging elderflowers & blackberries, choosing British flour, butter and sugar, sourcing strawberries and gooseberries from a farm 40 minutes away, or using card packaging and compostable cellophane where possible.

I’m not perfect, and I know there is always more to learn and improve on, but I’m trying to build something thoughtful, honest, and rooted in care.

Thank you for supporting The Suburban Larder and the values behind it.

The Suburban Larder is my small-batch food venture, built around a love of seasonal baking and preserving.

It’s inspired by the seasons, by ingredients at their best, and by the simple pleasure of making beautiful homemade food to share. From preserves to baked goods, everything is made in small batches with care, flavour, and seasonality at its heart.

It’s also shaped by the things that matter to me. I use homegrown ingredients where I can, and buying local produce, supporting British farmers and makers, and trying to make thoughtful choices as I go.

I’m still at the beginning of this journey, and it won’t be perfect, but I hope The Suburban Larder grows into something honest, seasonal, and from the heart.

I’m looking forward to sharing it through local fairs and markets, and soon through monthly themed curated boxes for local collection.

Thank you so much for being here from the beginning.

Focaccia fans…this one’s for you.

My rosemary & sea salt focaccia sold out at my last market, so I’ll be bringing it back for my next one - along with a new little idea: tomato & oregano focaccia sticks.

Soft, golden, herby and made for eating as you wander the stalls. Perfect if you want something savoury to nibble on while you browse.

I’ll have both with me at my next market - but if last time was anything to go by, come early!

A few familiar favourites from my first Larder Box will also be coming with me to Shortlands Market on Sunday 5th July.

Expect scones, lemon drizzle mini loaves, lemon & white chocolate biscotti, jammy dodger biscuits and small-batch preserves - including my latest Strawberry & Pimms Conserve, made with fruit from New Park Farm in Kent.

Everything is made in small batches at home, using British ingredients where possible and simple, more environmentally thoughtful packaging.

Come and find The Suburban Larder at Shortlands Market on Sunday 5th July.

Out of a cookbook collection of 80+ books, these are the preserving books that have really earned their place on my shelf.

My absolute go-to is River Cottage Handbook: Preserves. It is the one I reach for most because it covers such a wide range of preserving techniques, from jams and chutneys to cordials and syrups, and the recipes are consistently reliable.

Pam the Jam is a close second and has quickly become a real favourite for the same reason: well-written, dependable recipes with lots of inspiration.

My third pick is the Ball Complete Book of Home Preserving, which is incredibly useful for the sheer breadth of recipes and methods, although some of the Ball-specific products can be harder to source here in the UK.

The National Trust Book of Jam and The Modern Preserver are both still very worthy of a place on the shelf too, each offering something a little different.

If you love home preserving, I’d love to know - which book do you reach for most?
