🦇This is my workshop bat!- 🦇 looking very offended as I’ve been making lots of shavings again today and it was in the firing line! 🦇🦇
Time for a clear up I think. 🤔

Busy making a mess in my workshop today. I should have worn a hat! Or maybe that’s my stuffing coming out 😁
A bowl- beech I think, in progress. If all goes well, it will be at the pop-up sale The Little Studio on The Street, Ash on 31st Oct/1st Nov- but a lot could still go wrong 🤞

I like this bit! - seeing the grain come alive as the finishing oil soaks in!
Lovely grain on this oak bowl. I had planned to do some decoration but the grain was too nice!

I found this beautiful oak tree in the grounds of Chilham Castle last week. Easily 6ft diameter. It needed a hug!

Being a Northern lass, I call a spade a spade.. but look what I found when I turned an old broken spade handle. ( Woodturners Rule no.1- never say no when offered wood!)

So, I call this spade a very nice bottle opener and bottle stopper.

Another ring keeper box made today. The wood is local- a swap with another turner. I’m told it is walnut - beautiful grain and colours but this piece fought me all the way! 🫣😁
I won in the end 🏆

My lovely friends bought me a pizza cutter kit for my birthday.
I’ve been saving this beautiful piece of olive wood for something special- and this was it!
Just need to organise a pizza night now!🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕🍕

New ( old) tool alert! 😁 A bargain- couldn’t resist!

On the left is a skew chisel- brilliant for cutting parallel sided cylinders, v cuts and smooth shapes but you need to keep it under close control. Slight lapse of attention and it will dig in viciously and ruin your work.

On the right is a spindle gouge which is great for cutting coves, beads and details when used respectfully.

In the middle is my new(old) tool. It’s called a skewchigouge- a sort of mongrel of the other two. I haven’t tried one before..I’ll report back 🤔
