Edward Holmes Baldock was one of Britain's greatest antique dealers, supplying and advising some of the most important figures of the 19th century, including King George IV, King William IV, and Queen Victoria.

He also helped furnish Windsor Castle in 1827 and became renowned for handling and creating some of the finest furniture of the period.

A stunning Victorian walnut serpentine credenza, richly decorated with geometric parquetry, marquetry panels, and ormolu mounts in the Louis XVI style.

The central marquetry panel forms a striking focal point, framed by gilt bronze mouldings, while the frieze is mounted with detailed Hercules masks wearing the Nemean lion skin. To either side, glazed doors open to reveal a deep burgundy-lined interior, adding further contrast and character to the piece.

A beautifully decorative cabinet with practical storage and real presence.

Arthur showcases an important new arrival, a French Louis XVI style writing desk by François Linke, dating to circa 1910 and recorded as index number 484.

Widely regarded as the greatest and most decorated cabinetmaker of the French Belle Époque period (circa 1871–1914), Linke became internationally celebrated for combining exceptional craftsmanship with elegant French design.

This mahogany and satiné parquetry desk is fitted with ormolu mounts and retractable writing slides to each side, reflecting the exceptional quality and detail associated with Linke’s work.

Arthur showcases a stunning Belle Époque breakfront display cabinet by Mercier Frères, dating to circa 1890–1900.

Designed in the Neoclassical Revival style, the cabinet features a striking Greek key pattern, gilt bronze mounts, and an impressive breakfront form. Above the cabinet are gilt-bronze bust mounts of Hercules and Apollo, representing strength, heroism, harmony, and the arts.

A beautifully detailed example from one of the leading Parisian makers of the period.
