Mismatched chocolate browns and deep aubergines in zellige, catching the light, paired with butler’s pantry cabinets inspired by a house we once lived in. We fell in love with them then, and the idea has stayed with us ever since.

Painted in Rolling Fog by Little Greene, they bring a softness to the richness of the tiles. A kitchen made for slow mornings, well-worn cookbooks and something good simmering on the stove.

There is something rather lovely about a ripe pear in October. Soft, sweet and quietly fragrant, it belongs to this time of year as much as fallen leaves and evenings by candlelight.

Pear is one of the notes in our Wassail candle, inspired by the old orchard tradition of wassailing — a toast to the trees, the harvest and the promise of fruit to come.
