My Candle Story

Candles are the one constant in my adult life... I must have bought hundreds in my time as gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas as well as for my own personal use and enjoyment. I realised that as I was buying so many of them, that I would try my hand at making them. I was adamant that I was going to use a non-toxic wax and I decided for soy wax which burns cleaner without toxins, carcinogens or pollutants than many other alternatives. Plus, as a bonus, it generally burns for longer too. Win Win! I tried out a many different blends and once I was fully happy, Calon Candles was born. Our range includes our Classic range, our Aromatherapy range with essential oils, our Christmas range, and our "Naked" unscented range for those who simply prefer the glow of candlelight without a fragrance.

I wanted a Welsh element to the name, although I needed one that was easy to pronounce whether or not the person picking up the candle was a Welsh-speaker or not. (“Calon” is the Welsh word for “Heart” by the way!).

Being based in Snowdonia I am lucky enough to be surrounded by mountains, sea and countryside. The imposing and brooding presence of Harlech Castle only adds to the stunning scenery, and I get to see this everyday. All the candles I make are hand-poured in small batches from my own home often with a little help from my two children.

IFRA and EU compliant. 100% soy wax used. We DO NOT test on animals.
