I nearly never shared this design.
I showed it to someone in my circle, and they said, ā€œIt looks a bit like a Christmas tree.ā€ šŸŽ„
That was all it took.

Ofcourse, I couldn’t unsee it. Every time I looked at it, all I saw was apricot trees. I genuinely considered starting all over again.

Then I had a word with myself.
This is my interpretation…I’m not here to paint perfect botanical studies. I’m here to create art that feels joyful, whimsical and just a little bit magical. If my foxgloves have a tiny hint of Christmas tree energy... I can live with that.

I’m so glad I ignored that little wobble, because this design has gone on to become one of my favourites and a best seller in all guises. I adore foxgloves. This design is licensed on fabrics in the USA. It also made my account blow up.

Moral of the story? Be careful who you ask for feedback. One innocent comment can have you questioning your entire existence... or at least your flowers šŸ˜‚

Trust your instincts. The things that make your work different are often the very things people fall in love with šŸ’›

May is when all the summery blossoms start to appear.

I’ve been obsessed with garden centres, walks in nature and anywhere I will see flowers growing. Marigolds, fuschias buttercups dandelions, wisteria, camellia all in full bloom and it makes be so optimistic for the summer. I get completely ahead of myself planning my garden, like I am some professional gardener when I barely know how to plant or when, but God loves a trier!

My partner knows when I go to the garden centre or florist I always always come back with at least one bunch or a few pots to plant, but it’s the small things I find joy in šŸ«¶šŸ»

Anyone else here the same? What’s the word for going to a supermarket when hungry but the garden centre version??

Peonies on Latte šŸ¤Ž These flowers make me so happy and I’ve realised I need to get some in my garden to bloom every year. I spent the morning in the garden centre and the afternoon in the garden, it sets me up for a good weekend being surrounded by plants, trees and nature. Do you love art prints on a colour ground or on white?

I may not show up here every day, because I’ve been working on so many incredible designs in my job and some evenings and weekends on OV. I love being creative every day and I am working on my website behind the scenes but it’s hard to fit my own creativity in šŸ¤

🄚 Happy Easter lovely people! Throwing it back to my hand painted ā€œPisanki ā€œEaster Eggs.

Painting eggs is a centuries old tradition in Poland using a brush to apply liquid wax to draw a design onto the egg, which is later placed in a natural dye and then heated to remove the wax and reveal the design underneath. Traditionally, the dyes used for Polish Easter eggs are of plant origins like beetroot which makes it edible and toxin free! Ofcourse this is not what I’ve done here. I used gouache for all the colours and details.

Wishing you peace, love and happiness because life is beautiful and I wish the people in power could see that 🩵

We need the blue skies back where are they! Here are a few more daffodil studies against beautiful blue skies. Honestly the weather makes so much difference to my wellbeing I should move to a permanently warm country šŸ©µšŸ˜…

Calling these ā€œdaffodil studiesā€ because they’re not finished … I always come back to drawings and like to add or take away something. I’ve also been drawing in oil pastel and crayons in my ā€œvisual journalā€ which I’ll explain on stories. But it’s such a lovely way to document little bits of life on paper rather than online or in only writing 🄹 need to keep it up.

🪻🌷 Spring Equinox definitely deserves a square in the feed! Here are my favourite spring prints! Which do you like?

Spring always feels like the ā€œreal new yearā€ A chance for a fresh start, a tidy, cutting the grass, getting out for a daily walk and it’s definitely easier to get up with the lighter mornings.

Maybe I turn to flowers, art and nature so much because it fills me with hope of how beautiful the world really is. And it’s important to have that reminder when we are bombarded with news every day… and as much as it’s important to be informed, I need some positivity on my feed šŸ’›

Have a lovely weekend 🌼
