Very often my clients inherit the decor of previous owners which can be difficult for them to see beyond and imagine how they want the spaces to look and feel.

From my years of renovating period properties, I can see beyond the dodgy floors, unsuitable paint colours and all the 'vandalism' that might have taken place over the decades. I immediately begin to imagine where we can reinstate period features and how best to enhance the architecture. I get a feel for what colours would suit each space and how different lighting possibilities would transform them. I then work very closely with my clients to ensure that our work together results in a vision is aligned with their tastes and preferences.

In the hallway of our Queen's Park project, my clients wanted to move away from the dark paint colour to a lighter, warmer and softer feel. We installed an original style Victorian front door with stained glass, Victorian mosaic tiles, a dado rail, plaster corbels and a stair runner as well as a brass lantern and a bespoke console table.

I'm completely obsessed with old properties and love to bring them to life. My calendar is filling up very fast so if you'd like help with your project, get in touch as far in advance as possible.

This project was done in collaboration with the fantastic team at who were very much on board with our vision.

The master bedroom in our Queen's Park project. This is a room that seems to glow when the light shines in the windows. It's such a contrast to the dreariness of the space when my clients purchased the property. Swipe to see the before.

We started from scratch, refurbishing the existing wardrobes, replacing the windows and ceiling rose, installing plantation shutters and procuring a gorgeous selection of furniture, soft furnishings, lighting, accessories and artwork by

The end result is a space that feels completely personal to my clients and sits very happily within a period property, while still having a contemporary feel. ✨️

Part 2 of our little series on our recently completed renovation project in Brockley, South East London.

This home had been almost entirely stripped of its original features, so restoring its charm and character was a key priority for our clients. Reinstating these details requires not only thoughtful design, but a builder who really understands the nuances of period properties.

Craftsmanship is everything on projects like this, skilled joinery, precise tiling, and an unwavering attention to detail make all the difference. Just as important is strong communication and close collaboration on site, allowing us to navigate the inevitable surprises that come with renovating period properties.

The result is a project that runs smoothly, with clients confident that every detail is in safe hands. βœ¨οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ»

I have a little black book of excellent builders and tradespeople who I can bring onto your project as well as architects and I'm even married to a structural engineer.

Rear extensions on period properties can be tricky to get right. In our Queen's Park project was really important to layer in warmth through materials to counterbalance the large spans of glass and lack of original features in the extension. We used lots of lovely rustic wood, natural fibre rugs and terracotta lamp bases to add that cosy, comforting feel my clients were after.

The books add so much personality and warmth too ❀️

Having antique and vintage items in your home gives it a lovely sense of storytelling and history. My clients in this lovely old Victorian house in Brockley, SE London, already had a collection of Mid-Century furniture and accessories, which we built upon and layered with new pieces, vintage rugs and antique lighting.

It's of huge importance that my clients feel that at the end of the renovation journey, that they have a home that reflects their tastes and personality. Treasured items will always be included into the schemes and the entire process is collaborative and centred on my clients wishes for the spaces. ✨️

This Victorian house in Brockley, Southeast London, had previously been subjected to an unsympathetic renovation, leaving it stripped of much of its original character and charm.

When my clients purchased the property, they were very clear in their ambition: to reinstate its period features while introducing a richly layered, characterful interior.

Their vision included a confident use of colour, combined with an eclectic mix of antique and vintage pieces that would give the house a sense of history and individuality.

We collaborated closely to create a series of spaces that feel personal and unique to the clients. .

It has been so rewarding to see the transformation ❀️

A look inside our recently completed Queen's Park project. All of our projects are underpinned by a respect for period properties and restoration is always considered alongside renovation. With this project, the clients wanted to balance period charm with a little bit of a more contemporary feel.

The client is always at the centre of every project and the aim is to create a beautiful, uplifting, liveable and characterful which feels personal to them. Every decision is made to reflect how our clients wish to live and how they want their home to feel.

If you are considering a transformation of your own home, now is a good time to enquire. We work on a small number of projects at a time will capacity to start one new project in the coming weeks.

Hello and a warm welcome to all the new followers of the last few weeks πŸ‘‹

I'm Maureen, the founder of Maureen Gomez Interiors, based in Hammersmith, London. I specialise in creating beautifully considered interiors for period properties, celebrating their original character while introducing comfort and practicality.

My work is rooted in a love of traditional British interiors, colour, layered textures, vintage and antique finds and bespoke details that make a home feel entirely personal.

Each project is a collaboration with my clients. I take the time to understand how they live, what they love and how they want their home to feel, resulting in homes that feel authentic and personal to them.

Above all, I want my clients to feel excited, supported and completely at ease, knowing every detail is being thoughtfully considered.

Thank you for following along and I'm looking forward to sharing more projects, inspiration and behind the scenes glimpses with you πŸ₯°

Wishing you a very happy Easter and a lovely long weekend 🐣

I can clearly remember my clients strong dislike for this WC when I did my first onsite consultation with them. The sink was too small and splashed out water every time they used it and the tiles were not to their taste (to put it mildly).

We installed a heritage style close coupled loo and basin, checkboard floor tiles, panelling and wallpaper as well as new lighting and fittings. We created a niche in which to recess the sink, allowing us to go for a larger size which doesn't splash water around.

This was part of a large home renovation but just because it is a small space, does not mean it had any less attention and consideration that the other spaces ❀️

There were some unexpexted plumbing issues to resolve but the team at did a great job and made sure our vision came to life beautifully! πŸ’ͺπŸΌπŸ”¨

After months of working on a project, it can be a real jolt to look back again on the 'before' photos and realise just what a complete transformation has taken place in a space.

This living room is part of a large home renovation project recently completed in Queen's Park, North London.

The first thing we did in this room was to move the large radiator to under the window, which allowed us to be able to install a sofa against the wall. We replaced the startlingly oversized ceiling rose and installed new wood sash windows and shutters. The alcove joinery was modified to give it a more symmetrical and traditional feel and the floor was refurbished.

The lovely salvaged fireplace provides the focal point and makes the space feel like a proper front room, in what is a lovely Victorian house.

These clients did not have any suitable furniture or accessories so we started from scratch. Every item in the space has been thoughfully selected for them. In fact, the only items the clients kept for this space were the pineapple lamp base and the painting!

I'm so thrilled to showcase our recently completed Queen's Park project in North London. This project was a thouroughly enjoyable and engaging collaboration between myself, the clients and the passionate team at who understood our vision and worked hard to bring it to life over many months!

This Victorian house was very dark and dated and most of the original features had been removed. Stark is the best word I can think of to describe it. We focussed on reinstating these features such as the fireplace, Victorian floor tiles, plasterwork, solid wood sash windows and the front door with stunning stained glass. The kitchen underwent a major refurbishment and now feels warm and full of character.

It has been a complete transformation and the clients are thrilled with the results. They are loving life in their new home and cannot decide which is their favourite space. It really does fill my heart to see ❀️

Thank you to Juliet Murphy for the beautiful photographs πŸ“·β€οΈ
