Our founding partner Fiona recently spoke to about the arrival of new residential developments on the Southbank.

Johnson Naylor collaborated with on the interiors of Southbank Tower, an imaginative conversion, extension and retrofit of mid-century architect Richard Seifert’s King’s Reach Tower office block, marking the ‘beginning of the fresh injection of residential space into the neighbourhood’.

More recently, Johnson Naylor completed the interiors for Southbank Place, a mixed-use development, consisting of over 868 apartments. Fiona found multiple sources of local inspiration, including the spiral staircases of the Southbank Centre, the influences of which can be seen in the stairs leading from the lobby to the residents lounge.

The Pump Station was originally built during World War 2 to send fuel though undersea pipes to France to support the D-Day landings. The building has been transformed into a holiday home by Johnson Naylor.

The house’s main space – which includes the kitchen, dining room and living room – is divided from the adjoining snug by a stone clad fireplace that acts as a wall but sits below the concrete and steel ceiling.
