Fresh sawn green oak for a garden full of character

This customer project is a great example of how one OakMax order can be used across several parts of a garden.
P.B. ordered fresh sawn green oak posts, boards and sleepers from OakMax and used them to create a series of outdoor features — including a covered seating area, garden screening, timber detailing and a beautiful outdoor table.

Their order included:
6 x Oak Boards 2400 x 200 x 50mm
4 x Oak Posts 2400 x 125 x 125mm
3 x Oak Sleepers 2400 x 200 x 100mm
7 x Oak Boards 2400 x 150 x 50mm

We loved hearing their feedback:
“The timber was great… it’s really made a difference to our garden.”

That’s exactly what we like to see — oak being used not just as a material, but as part of a garden that feels practical, personal and properly lived in.

Fresh sawn green oak for a large garden pavilion

This anonymous customer project is a great example of how OakMax-supplied oak posts and boards can be used at scale for a substantial outdoor structure.

Our customer ordered fresh sawn green oak from OakMax to build this large oak-framed garden pavilion / covered outdoor living space.

Their order included:
1 x Pack of 26 Oak Posts 2400 x 150 x 150mm
1 x Pack of 50 Oak Boards 2400 x 150 x 50mm
3 x Oak Boards 2400 x 200 x 30mm
Projects like this show how standard oak sections, used in the right quantities, can create a strong, characterful timber frame with real presence in the garden.

Planning a gazebo, garden pavilion, carport, covered seating area or outdoor kitchen?
Start with your layout, post positions and the main timber sections you’ll need, then choose the oak posts and boards that suit your build.
Our standard oak posts and boards are available online, including pack quantities for larger projects.

For non-standard sizes or a larger mixed order, send us your list of sizes and quantities through Special Enquiries and we’ll come back to you with availability and pricing.

Fresh sawn green oak for a rustic post and rail fence

This customer project is a great example of how OakMax-supplied oak posts and boards can be adapted on site to create a characterful outdoor boundary.

Our customer ordered:
6 x Oak Posts 2400 x 100 x 100mm
10 x Oak Boards 2400 x 200 x 50mm
The oak posts were used for the fence structure, while the boards were split down to create 100 x 50mm rails. The corners were then taken off to give the fence a more rustic, natural look.

Chestnut palings were added separately by the customer to complete the finished style.
We really liked the feedback they shared with us:
“My clients were extremely happy with the end result.”

Planning a post and rail fence, garden boundary, paddock-style fence or rural landscaping feature?

Two oak posts, one clever garden feature
There’s no such thing as “just two oak posts” when the idea is this good.

Garden360 UK used OakMax-supplied fresh sawn green oak posts to create this bee / insect hotel-style garden feature — a simple but brilliant way to add natural structure, character and purpose to a planting area.

Their order included:
2 x Oak Posts 2400 x 150 x 150mm
Projects like this are a great reminder that oak doesn’t always need to become a large pergola, porch or garden structure. Sometimes, a small order can become a thoughtful garden detail that supports planting, encourages wildlife and adds real visual interest.

Planning a small garden feature, pollinator-friendly project or landscaping detail?
Start with the look and height you want, then choose the oak post size that suits your space. Our standard oak posts are available online for projects like this.

Fresh sawn green oak for a detailed bespoke build

A focused timber order, turned into a beautifully detailed oak-framed structure.
Good Fella’s Furniture Co, Hassop Bakewell used OakMax-supplied fresh sawn green oak posts and boards to create this small oak-framed shelter, finished by the maker with a slate roof.

Their order included:
10 x Oak Posts 2400 x 75 x 75mm
6 x Oak Boards 2400 x 200 x 30mm
From the frame and bracing to the board detailing, this is a great example of how standard oak sections can be used by skilled hands to create something full of character.

Fresh sawn green oak for garden furniture and retaining boards

This customer project is a great example of how OakMax-supplied green oak can be used across more than one part of a garden.
Our customer used the timber for two main projects: replacing old softwood retaining boards with oak, and building rustic garden furniture — including two benches with a matching table, plus a separate dining table made from leftover pieces.

One of their orders included:
8 x Oak Posts 2400 x 150 x 150mm
6 x Oak Sleepers 1800 x 200 x 100mm
6 x Oak Boards 2400 x 200 x 50mm
4 x Oak Boards 2400 x 250 x 50mm
We really liked their feedback:
“Everything went to plan.”
They also mentioned that, after a year and some appropriate treatment such as sanding, staining and oils, they are very happy with the finished products.

Fresh sawn green oak is a natural material, so tannin marks, surface checking and movement can appear as it seasons outdoors. With the right planning and finishing approach, that natural character can become part of the look.

Fresh sawn oak sleepers for an outdoor kitchen project

This customer project is a great example of how OakMax-supplied oak sleepers can be used for more than raised beds and garden borders.

N.T. ordered fresh sawn green oak sleepers from OakMax and used them to build this outdoor kitchen.
Their order included:
18 x Oak Sleepers 2400 x 200 x 100mm
We were also pleased to hear that the customer has since come back for more 2400mm oak sleepers, this time to replace softwood sleepers used elsewhere in the garden.

Oak sleepers are a practical choice for outdoor kitchens, garden bars, raised beds, edging and landscaping features where you want weight, structure and natural character.

Planning an outdoor kitchen, garden bar or sleeper feature of your own?
Start with the layout and run lengths you need, then choose the sleeper size that gives the right look and structure for your build. Our standard oak sleepers are available online for projects like this.

Oak posts and boards for a characterful patio pergola

Some customer projects look even better once the oak has had time to settle into the space.

C.W. used OakMax-supplied fresh sawn green oak posts and boards to build this patio pergola, creating a natural timber feature around the outdoor seating area.
Their order included:
2 x Oak Posts 2400 x 150 x 150mm
6 x Oak Boards 3000 x 150 x 50mm

After around a year, the oak was finished with a clear coat by the customer. Their feedback said it perfectly:
“It’s brought the grain right out and the colouring is perfect.”

From pergolas and patio frames to garden canopies and outdoor seating areas, fresh sawn green oak is a great choice when you want a structure with strength, texture and natural character.
