We love discovering talented craftspeople, and we travel the world to find the artisans who make our bins. They’re a select group of primarily family-run businesses in some of the great craft centres of the world; Renaissance beauty from Florence, sumptuous Eastern decoration from Mumbai, Noida and Rajasthan, European elegance from Germany and contemporary style from upstate New York. Our artisans use traditional techniques such as hand-painting, horn and bone carving, gilding and metal hammering. The rhythms of local custom and climate can sometimes mean we need to allow extra time for receiving our collections. But we don’t mind when the rainy season in India holds things up for a while – we believe that quality craftsmanship is worth waiting for. Our Clients

Devi Grewal is dedicated to delivering what her interior design clients want. She is passionate about great craftsmanship, creativity and beautiful design, and, since her early travels to the Asia-Pacific in the 1970s, has collected beautiful objects and built a network of gifted artisans. As well as commissioning designs for our online range, Devi works with individual clients to deliver bespoke pieces that speak to interior design schemes. My oh my, isn't this year whooshing by so quickly? We are now fully in Summer here in the UK so today we're sharing some gorgeous pieces made for these long summer days!

Rattan is a design staple that’s really come back on the scene in a big way in recent years. Warm and natural to look at and a practical material for a bin, it’s a classic look that blends into numerous interior design schemes.

Our rattan is high quality and tightly woven and comes in a range of contemporary designs. All our rattan bins are washable, which makes them very long-lasting. Just make sure the bin is dried out thoroughly after washing to avoid damage.

We specialise in more than bins and tissues! We also have a host of other must-have functional pieces, including this classic tray table in the decorative scroll design, which lends itself to being a generous-sized side table.

The tray top can be lifted off to be used for serving. When not used, the tray stand can be easily folded and stored away.

This piece is part of our tôle collection, finely hand-painted by a small family business in Rajasthan, the heart of craft in India.

If you, too, are enchanted by Mother Nature's exquisite beauty, take a look at our delightful tissue box.

This piece is decorated with delicate tiles made of mother of pearl and bone, lacquered to a hand-painted wooden base in a twirling floral pattern. The effect is enhanced by the contrasting shades and tones of the two types of tile, which both sit quietly upon their ivory setting to form an utterly charming piece.

This classic design mixes gorgeous florals with striking gold gilding and an attractive curved shape. The floral design incorporates pale shades of corals, pinks, oranges contrasted with stronger shades of green foliage. Works well in pattern-rich design schemes or for a more traditional country house aesthetic.

This waste paper basket has a light-weight wood base with gold gilding on the sides. The floral pattern is a fine hand crafted paper with elegant and timeless design, applied by hand in Italy using a decoupage method.

Empowering artisans is at the heart of the Must Have Bins ethos, and a wonderful aspect of that is being able to uplift women's communities worldwide through supporting traditional craftsmanship.

As we reflect on we'd love to spotlight two inspiring women-led communities creating core ranges for MHB.

Firstly, our range of eco bins is designed in France and woven from recycled plastic in Burkina Faso, Africa.

Waste from plastic bags and bottles is collected and cleaned, and then local women in rural communities crochet the recycled material into strong and durable baskets. Using approximately 100 carrier bags, a finished basket can be created in up to seven days.

The women now get involved in the design process and many of the patterns are from their own inspiration. This light-weight work is done in the home and gives employment to women from young mothers to older women in the family.

Similarly, on the other side of the world, our rattan range is made in rural Vietnam using local natural materials and empowering women to work from their homes using traditional weaving skills.

Our workshop collaborates with a French designer to make high-quality, stylish pieces that bring the ancient skills of basket weaving to a wider market.

The rattan weaving industry allows the connection of the natural ecosystem and livelihood of local communities to stay in harmony and maintain their rural way of life.

Rattan has a vintage 70's vibe, but it’s also very on trend at the moment, with rattan furniture and room accessories popping up in design mags and on the high street.

Maybe it’s because rattan is so versatile – the natural colours can compliment a room with clean modern colours and lines or fit into a scheme of natural textures and colours.

This classic rattan bin is of a high quality, tightly woven and it’s practical too as it is washable; just make sure the bin dries out thoroughly.

We find so much to luxuriate in within these images of our pieces at Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa in Chippenham, Wiltshire.

The handsome wooden furniture pairs so pleasingly with the textures and tones of the plush drapes, against a backdrop of subtly patterned wallpaper and carpet.

We love how the duck egg blue background and golden hand-painted dragonfly design of our tissue box and waste paper basket complete the look!
