When's the best time of year to install fencing?

Answer: Spring and early summer.
BEST TIMES (March-June):
✅ Ground is workable (not frozen or waterlogged)
✅ Concrete sets properly in moderate temps
✅ Installed before summer entertaining season
✅ Gives plants time to establish around new fence

WORKABLE (Sept-Nov):
✅ Ground still accessible
✅ Good for storm prep before winter
⚠️ Must be done before ground freezes

AVOID (Dec-Feb):
❌ Frozen ground makes post installation difficult
❌ Concrete doesn't cure properly in frost
❌ Waterlogged soil causes issues
❌ Weather delays common

How long does it take to install composite decking?

Depends on size, but here's a realistic guide:

SMALL DECK (3m x 3m):
* 2-3 days for a quality installation

MEDIUM DECK (5m x 4m):
* 3-5 days including subframe and finishing

LARGE/COMPLEX DECK (stairs, levels, built-in seating):
8 5-10 days depending on design

Why does it take longer than timber?
Because composite needs proper subframe spacing, precise fixing, and attention to expansion gaps. Rushing it causes problems years later.

We do it right the first time - which means your deck will still look perfect in 2046, not just 2026.

Do I really need gravel boards for my fencing project?

Short answer: Absolutely yes. Here's why:

WHAT GRAVEL BOARDS DO:
✅ Protect fence panels from ground moisture
✅ Prevent rot from soil contact
✅ Stop grass/weeds growing into panels
✅ Create clean, professional finish
✅ Extend fence lifespan by years

WITHOUT GRAVEL BOARDS:
❌ Panels rot from bottom up (even composite!)
❌ Moisture wicks up into timber
❌ Expensive panels need replacing sooner
❌ Installation looks cheap and rushed

THE COST?
