Incredible workshop today with .studio at Knit With Me. Such an incredible bag design and we all loved having Ranti here with us. Such a warm and encouraging tutor and such clever architectural designs.

We will be adding another date for the workshop if you missed out. If you are interested add your email to the workshop from today on the website and we will be in touch when a date is agreed.

The pattern gives instructions for a small and large size and smaller blue bag sample that we have in store was worked in Heavy Merino but used a 5mm needle instead of a 5.5mm so it just came out a tiny bit smaller than the patterns suggests. You could also use Noro Ito for a multi coloured version!

We adore it! Do you?

Here we go again with Thames Water. Before a quick update we just wanted to say a huge thank you to all the lovely messages we have had and all the offers of help.

We had another burst water main on Sunday night on Richmond Hill at around 8pm. Due to the pressure and damage the water was left to run for a good few hours as the services were worried about the road structure and that it may collapse if the water was turned off. At one point people were being asked to evaluate. We were on sight till about midnight moving our stock to ensuring it was safe and helping the other businesses with flooded basements etc.

We had building and electrical inspections yesterday and Knit With Me is all safe and sound and good to go ... Thank goodness. The road and pavements are also safe apart from the sections which are barricaded.

However, it has been, and continues to be a bit of a manic time as we moved all our stock from the basement up to the workshop floor to ensure it remained safe, dry and undamaged whilst waiting to hear what was happening with the water. This may mean it takes us a little longer than usual to locate your yarn when in store or ordering online or phoning to check dyelots, but we needed it to be safe. We will be doing everything we can to ensure you see minimal disruption and are continuing to get orders out the same day.

We are working hard today to get everything ready to open as usual tomorrow for all our lovely customers. We will be open as usual and apart from the views out our front window you shouldn't see any difference inside our lovely yarn store. However, the upstairs workshop space will be off limits for the rest of the week due there being no place to sit or stand because of all the boxes of yarn 🤣

Thanks for your patience, understanding and custom. We love our community and the support you show us and we look forward to seeing you this week as usual. 🥰

Between Kew and Richmond and then we had to stop because of a track failure at Richmond Station. I remember when I used to hate being stuck on the tube ... Not anymore 🤣🤣🤣

Does anyone else feel the same?

This time it's the which I am knitting with Como in Khaki and Chilli. Super airy and light weight due to this incredible air-spun extrafine merino. It's so light you don't even feel it is there. These 25g balls of Como have a whopping 125m in them and I'm knitting this on a 3.5mm needle.

Looking forward to wearing this one! Have you knit with Lamana Como? We would love to see what you have made. Post photos and tag us so we can see and repost!

Whilst I've been busy knitting swatches for the shop with our lovely new yarns, I was reminded of a wee tip for making it easier to count stitches when the yarn doesn't lead to a "clean" or easily identifiable stitch shape.

If the gauge you are looking for is 16 stitches, you can pop opening stitch markers on a first stitch and another 16 stitches later. Then all you need to do is measure between the two stitch markers to see if it's less or more than 10cm/4in which tells you in your stitches are turning out smaller or bigger than what you need.

If you aren't looking for a specific gauge or the stitches are particularly difficult to identify, i add a stitch marker to every stitch on one row, then when finished I can measure 10cm/4in and count the number of stitch markers I have inside that space. I also keep these opening stitch markers on my swatch when I wash it so I can easily measure again when dry to see what has changed and take notes to keep in mind when working with the yarn.

This works incredibly well for swatches containing cables too where it because difficult to count actual individual stitches.

Do you have any swatching tips you'd like to share? I learn something new every day from you guys!
