2020-22 was a tough time for all of us, but for me, it was a real wake-u

p call:

During the lockdown, I realized that I was an extrovert who loved to bring people joy. That was tough, not being able to meet with anyone. I’m sure I’m not alone in saying that the instant those rules were lifted, I was organising all kinds of spectacular parties just to make up the ground! But it’s not really about me; I just love to see people laughing, joking, and having a good time. And if I can use my skills to help that happen by bringing people together, hosting parties, and even throwing a silly ceremony for someone's special day, then that's what I'm all about. I started Sword and Stone because I became fascinated by the way food can get people to forget their worldly troubles. As the late genius Anthony Bourdain said:

“For a moment, the pinched expressions of the cynical, world-weary, throat-cutting, miserable bastards we've all become disappears when we're confronted with something as simple as a plate of food.”

I wanted to create a cookware brand that caters to people like me, who love to cook and to create a sense of occasion, entice people to leave the world of their worries just for an hour or two. Because it ain’t just about feeding the body;

Done right, even the humblest of wannabe chefs can feed the soul too. My intention with Sword and Stone is that you can be the Bourdain, the Marco or the Ramsay for this day and every day, giving every meal that sense of occasion which it deserves. It’s a moment when we should stop everything else and take time out to think of finer things, more beautiful and more lovely things. But then we designed afresh -

it's always been my opinion that traditional cookware is WAYY too generic!

CHEF MARK JONES fresh in his kitchen over in . Scroll ⬇️ for recipe, and let it play for process.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This is Chef Mark’s inspired review, putting to work the Japanese-inspired Spitfire Chef’s Knife from , making short work of some fresh peppers.

🔥For this demo he used the posh kitchens , but upped the slickness with his trademark slicing technique; smooth and sure. I’m sure he later unleashed this on his guests too… I mean, on their meals.

👨‍🍳 To start, get your gear on – best get dressed in a black or white jacket to look and feel the part. Wash those mitts of yours and dry thoroughly, don’t want to slip now.

🧽 Prep your work area, sanitise it, clear away all the rubbish. I’m not sure about Mark, but I use a mise en place technique to get everything in line ready to prep. You can’t start cooking without it imo.

🔪 Set your wrists to be somewhat loose, not too tense. Roll with the cuts. Go for accuracy first, then speed. Develop rhythm

🍗Serve with your finest butcher’s chicken, garlic fried rice with a sprinkle of sesame seeds, coriander and a squeeze of lemon.

Yes, I know this isn’t a recipe – but it kept you entertained for a while!

Killer question for any restaurant is the steak -

❌You can’t hide it.

❌You can’t pretend.

✅You have to do it right - straight up steak and fries.

MAYBE with a sauce if you can justify it. Red wine if not.

Some say the Big New York City Chef Anthony Bourdain already had it all.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Restaurants, world tour…

He was The kitchen swashbuckler who struck gold as a writer

and became a uniquely talented interpreter of the world through his travels.

I know plenty of young chefs who see it the same way -

The world might have changed, but somehow food and cooking just has that same romance to it as when Bourdain started.

Requiesce in pace, AB!
