Lovely sunset alignment over the buildings of Canary Wharf in east London this evening!! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜€

Been waiting 2 and a half weeks for this finale to the parade of alignment opportunities that have been available daily. Coming back to this viewpoint every few days and watching the sun sequentially aligning itself and setting behind some of the other buildings along the way until it got here today! Watching the sunset here with my own eyes this evenings was sublime! What's more is that the clouds which hung around today were actually helping with the overall clarity of the images captured. Without the clouds as they were here, things could easily have gotten very glary!

Whoops, miscalculated this shot!! ๐Ÿ˜… Ironically, came here to do this short distance target shot because I thought there would be less risk of low level cloud and haze on the most critical final lowest 2 degrees of the horizon compared to the other alignment targets that I had to choose from yesterday which were much further away and thus higher risk from being scuppered by low level cloud. Except in this case, the other risk which I didn't consider was my calculation error - LOL!! ๐Ÿ˜„ Also moving further over to my left (I was on Tower Bridge itself) didn't bring the sun any higher up. I think I actually needed to be on the river bank on the side where they don't allow tripods (Queens Walk, HMS Belfast, etc) so I guess I would had to have been content doing hand held shoots instead from there if I'd thought about it in time! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The World Navigator cruise ship making its grand exit from London city at sunset last night, sailing through the wide open bascules of Tower Bridge on its way out to sea. Bon voyage passengers and crew, hope you enjoyed the city and last night's awesome sunset as you made your way down the Thames, and that you're looking forward to the delightful adventure awaiting you at your next stop! ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Tonight's sunset - 9 May 2026. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐ŸŒž

Watching the sun go down from Greenwich Park this evening.

I had to make doubly sure that the park was still open during the time of this (solar) alignment as I got locked in there about 2 weeks ago, and it wasn't just me! There were quite a few people also locked in with me walking from gate to gate to see if one had been left open still, LOL, because they had locked up the gates much earlier than usual! The official closing time was 8pm and there is usually at least a 20 to 30 minutes grace period before every single gate is padlocked shut I would guess - certainly I'd been able to walk out at 8:15pm no issues previously when the closing time was 8pm. Anyway, the closing time is now 9pm for the month of May so it was a green light go to in when I verified the closing times from the notice pinned to the outside gate. ๐ŸŒณ

Has anybody else ever been locked inside Greenwich or any other of the Royal parks in London?

These guys are probably "the" best 70s and 80s covers band on YouTube?! 1.64 million subscribers can't be wrong! ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Ž

Finally got to see them performing live in London last night at a sell out gig after following their content for many years. Hailing all the way from down under mate, Adelaide, South Australia to be precise! The HSCC Band (aka Hindley Street Country Club), currently working their way through dates on their Europe tour schedule. Was a great night, as if you couldn't tell by these short teaser clips! ๐Ÿ˜

Wasn't able to bring my camera into the venue, so had to make do with some shabby iPhone videos to remember the performance by instead! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜…

The sun and the moon this week from 2 different locations in London but with some of the same buildings appearing in both.

Yes, there is a moon looming next to the buildings in the first photo, it's very faint though.

I reckon if it wasn't for the slightly hazy conditions, there could have been a photo of them moon aligned with the Gherkin just like it has with the sun in the second image (which would have made for a great post). ;)

Lots of people out enjoying the clear blue skies and the sunset at this famous north of the river London viewpoint last night. :)

I ended up shooting a huge 160 megapixel high resolution panorama of the skyline view during the pre-sunset moonrise! :o

The moon was barely visible until it got quite high, more to do with the faint mist and haze conditions than the bright contrast of the pre-sunset skies I would say. I've included a first sighting shot here as an example, can you see where the moon is in that shot? ;)

I recorded a 6 minute walk through video demonstrating how much detail you can see from zooming into that single high resolution mage, details and clarity that you'll never be able to see from the tiny compromised version here on Facebook! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Lovely accidental capture from last Thursday of part of the London city skyline in silhouette at sunset! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The sun lining itself behind the Walkie Talkie building on its final decent towards the horizon line wasn't the accidental bit, that was pre-planned (I'll share a few more images showing that sequence in another post)! ๐Ÿ˜‰ It was the geese flying past above the sun that I didn't know I'd captured until yesterday when I was browsing through the images that were captured. I'd just left my camera shooting by itself automatically every 5 second on timer mode whilst I just enjoyed the serene ambience from this quiet residential street viewpoint and taking in the views without having to keep on looking at my camera's screen! ๐Ÿ˜„

Some of the buildings from left to right: [Far Left] BT Tower, [Where The Sun Is Directly Overheard]: St Paul's Cathedral, Wembley Stadium Arch, Walkie Talkie Building, [Far Right Cluster]: The Scalpel, The Cheese Grater, The Gherkin. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Have you had time to enjoy any of the lovely sunsets these past few days? Let me know where from and share one of your photos if you'd like! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Wow, wow, and WOW! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜Ž Elevated panoramic sweeping views from the river at Battersea in south London at Lift109 during sunset!

We had some incredible intense golden hour light for last night's sunset photography workshop organised by James Burns aka Mr . Thank you so much James for organising these events, for guiding us and sharing your expertise with us from someone who has shot so much of London's icons and iconic views from various roof terraces, balconies and sky decks all over the city.

I was fortunately enough to be in a small private group to come up here after public opening hours for 1 full hour! Usually the paying public only get 10 minutes at the most up here, and certainly during my first and only visit prior to this back in 2023 I remember to this day that it was more like 8 minutes! LOL! And if you want sunset views, you have to book well in advance and go in the winter time because public entry is closed at 6pm so it's not possible in the late spring and summer.

This is part 1, I have a few more images from last night that I'll post in a part 2. ๐Ÿ˜‰
