How to choose the perfect paint colour 🖌️

1. Paint a piece of white paper and hold it in different spots around the room. Each wall will come up differently with the rooms natural light. Try it at different times of day.

2. Peel and stick samples are great to shortlist your favourite colours, but we do find there is often a variation to the end result. We’d suggest buying a small sample pot in addition to test it out on a larger format on the wall to be 100% certain if you’re nervous.

3. Samples appear 30% lighter when ultimately painted on all of your walls, so remember this when choosing your colour. You have flexibility to go a little bolder than you think!

3 Things Your Builder Will Expect You To Have Prepped Before Your Kitchen Renovation Starts

1. A clear plan showing where cabinetry, appliances, sink, taps, radiators, extractors and key services are going. This affects electrics, plumbing, ventilation, flooring, wall finishes and sometimes even structural work.

2. Your lighting and electrical plan. This should show socket positions, appliance isolators, switches, pendants, wall lights, under-cabinet lighting, LED strips and any dimming zones. Kitchens are electrical-heavy rooms, and moving sockets later is annoying, messy and usually costs extra. Decide where you’ll use the kettle, toaster, coffee machine, air fryer etc ahead of time.

3. Final floor finish & whether you’re opting for UFH.
Engineered wood, tiles, microcement, vinyl, stone etc - choose & make your builder aware. Each has a different build-up depth and this affects finished floor levels, door thresholds, plinth heights, and appliance clearances. If you’re having UFH, they’ll need to know the system type, floor build-up, manifold location, thermostat position and whether it works with your chosen floor finish. This needs sorting before screed/levelling/flooring prep.

Shout out to .danielle & .amy for this beautiful e-design they’ve been working on as a joint project.

Something I really love are their use of french doors in the open plan space - we’re seeing a real shift away from bi-folds and crittal like extensions and a big move towards simpler french doors in either muted tones to blend in or brighter pops for a touch of colour.

Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in order for a client installation to run smoothly? Here are 7 non-negotiable processes we take care of so things go as intended.

1. Condition check all items before they reach the property to ensure no damages have occurred in transit 🔍📦

2. Re-confirm with all suppliers ahead of the scheduled delivery that all items are due to arrive on time 📦✅

3. Have a system in place that allows you to work out what any item is without it being unboxed 🏷️📋

4. Read all item listings carefully as suppliers can be cheeky little bastards and not supply all parts you might need, e.g. toilet seat hinges, valves, cushion inserts 👀🔩

5. Confirm all parking, access and delivery routes, as well as concierge rules 🚚🅿️

6. Carry out a visit to the property in the days ahead to ensure the property is fit to be installed, e.g. clean, empty etc 🏡🧹

7. Prep the client so they’re aware what areas you’ll be doing and what items are expected on site 🗣️

Picking the “perfect neutral” isn’t about finding a colour - it’s about finding the right undertone for your space.

Too many people grab a beige or white off a chart and wonder why it looks grey, pink, or just… dead. That’s because neutrals are completely shaped by light, orientation, and what you put next to them.

A few rules we swear by:

• North-facing rooms → go warmer (avoid anything with a blue/grey base unless you want it to feel intentionally cooler)

• South-facing rooms → naturally yellow light, so you can afford to go softer, or slightly cooler if you want

• Always test samples on all 4 walls, this is where most people go wrong

• Look at it morning, midday, and evening before committing
