A little glimpse into the home of our lovely client Laurie, who bravely took on a substantial seven-month renovation while pregnant and with another child under two — the absolute definition of superwoman. With us supporting from the sidelines remotely, alongside a few in-person touch-points, Laurie managed the renovation herself from start to finish.

« We wanted to do it once and do it right, but knew that would require professional expertise. After contacting a number of studios, we decided to work with Topology - the hybrid approach gave us the reassurance of key in-person meetings when it really mattered, as well as the flexibility of remote consultations in between. It was so good to feel supported without it becoming another thing to juggle »

Here’s one designer Danielle • Topology Interiors made earlier - but this time for herself.

Danielle toyed around with different layouts for this main bathroom - wondering if it was the right decision to sacrifice having a slightly smaller floor space and entrance route into the space, in aim of having a separate walk in shower (rather than bigger floor space but a shower head over the barn). For her, the idea of a walk in shower was more important to her over the floor space - as an exclusive shower user - and we think it was the right decision. What a beautiful space she’s created.

Last week Topology turned 10 - TEN!!

I set up the company from a white IKEA desk at the foot of my bed in my flat at age 24. At the time it was very much a side hustle and in all honesty I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.... I couldn’t afford formal training and had to learn quickly on the job. I struggled to get it off the ground for a few years, it was only when I took the plunge to quit my well paid full time job that I could give it the attention it deserves. Then Covid hit - but hey, turns out everyone sitting inside their homes actually is really good for an interior design business that works mostly online...!

I’d be lying if I said it’s been easy - the amount of anxiety, personal finance, sacrifice and strength it’s taken to build this business has been a lot...but I’m so immensely proud of the incredible team we now have here at Topology. Each day the girls never fail to impress me with their talent, passion, kindness, creativity - and resilience..

Now 10 years later, we’re a growing team with a proper studio & quite literally thousands of projects behind us.

Thank you to all the amazing brands that put their faith in us over the years which helped us gain credibility. To name a few This is The Paint. Lick IKEA UK Habitat Loaf and to our impeccable tradespeople (you know who you are but we gate-keep you 🤫) and of course to my amazing team for supporting me and believing in Topology as much as I do. Sharing a little snippet into the upcoming home of our very talented designer .danielle . She’s recently embarked on a very exciting renovation of her 5 bed house in Dorking which used to be a Victorian pub. After a year in the making, I’m so pleased to finally share that the first 6 episodes of my podcast, “Your Home: A Designer’s Guide”, is now live on Spotify and Apple. Thank you to to helping me make it a reality!

This has been a real labour of love, and it has taken me longer than planned to bring it to life. Over the past year, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes - getting married, running and expanding Topology with 3 new staff, taking on some of our biggest projects to date, trying to move house, and managing the renovation of our new studio.

It has been a lot, but I’m very happy to finally have this out in the world. Although slightly nervous as I’m totally out of my comfort zone!

Your Home: A Designer’s Guide is here to make interior design feel clearer, more practical and more accessible. We’ll be covering everything from renovation budgets and layouts to lighting, styling and the real decisions that go into creating a home that works beautifully.

There will be practical design advice, honest conversations, behind-the-scenes insight, and episodes with brilliant guests from across the interiors world. Thank you to .danielle .amelie .charlie
