A new season is a good reminder that your home should evolve with you. Maybe your routines have changed. Your family has grown. You’re working differently. Or perhaps a room simply doesn’t feel quite right anymore.

Three metres is roughly where a conversation stops working.

Seating placed further apart than that stops reading as one room. It becomes two groups of furniture that happen to share a floor, and no amount of good taste in the individual pieces fixes it.

It is one of the first things we check in a layout, alongside traffic flow and where the light actually falls. A plan can look balanced on paper and still feel scattered in the room itself.

That is what space planning is for: settling how a room works before anything is bought. Scoped to your room rather than sold as a fixed package, so it can be one layout worked through in detail or several to compare. Two rounds of revisions either way.

You do not usually need an architect for it. We work remotely from your survey or your existing drawings, and a single room is normally one to two weeks.

And if your layout already works and you only want the room styled and sourced, tell us. We will point you at design instead.

Usually when you book a interior design service you receive a set of images and a shopping list, and everything after that is yours to solve. Find a contractor. Place twenty orders across a dozen suppliers. Chase the ones that slip. Work out why the sofa will not come through the hall. That is where most projects get difficult, and it is where most services have already finished.
