My top travel tips (so you don’t make the same mistakes I’ve made!) ✈️
- Use your everyday credit card expenditure to earn Avios and trade these in for heavily discounted flights using the British Airways reward flight scheme. Some European flights cost as little as £1 plus redeemed Avios!
- Check that your passport is valid under new EU rules.
- Only take carry on luggage. We almost never need as many clothes as we think and carry on saves having to queue at check in and cannot be lost or delayed by the airline. If you must check in luggage, take your first day essentials with you on board in case your luggage doesn’t turn up.
- Take a photo or screenshot of your boarding pass just in case you lost the original email or physical pass
- Roll your clothes, don’t fold them. You’ll get a lot more clothes in the bag this way. Take mini plastic bottles of decanted toiletries, travel wash to get the most wear from fewer clothes, and a mini first aid pack for cuts, bugs and tummy upsets.
- Get a fake tan before you go - gets your holiday off to a confident start and saves sunbathing time and over exposure to sun.
- When looking for a great restaurant, keep an eye out for short authentic menus using local produce. Try the local wine as it’s probably cheaper and better than imported versions!
- Always tip if you are happy with the service - many people in the hospitality industry rely on them.
