Hello

Welcome to my virtual home,

I’m Oriana Findlay, a fashion blogger, self pronounced chef, model and (professionally speaking) a writer.

I am a born and bred Zambian, who moved to London five years ago to complete my higher education. After three years of studying Religion and Politics at King’s College London, I realised that as much as I love learning about these things, I simply was not made for the cutthroat world of politics. After a summer of introspection, I realised that what I wanted was right in front of me. I might have been reading about the pros and cons of Brexit but what I was really interested in was reading magazines, scrolling through VOGUE online, and sneaking off between lectures to watch my favourite street style bloggers attend fashion week (which was luckily next door to my university!) This led me to pursue a Masters degree in Fashion Journalism at Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design - sure, you don’t need a masters degree to be a blogger, but back then I was on a mission to be a writer and only a writer… and you know what they say, no education is wasted.

I spent my Masters degree learning as much as I can about fashion and history, and starting an Instagram. By the time I had finished my degree my Instagram was no longer a hobby, but something I could see becoming a full time job with enough work. Right when I was considering taking my Instagram more seriously, fate had other plans. I was asked to come work for GLAMOUR magazine: they needed an events assistant and it was an opportunity I couldn’t say no to. It’s fair to say my Instagram career was put on a bit of a halt. I spent June till November in and out of the Vogue House, first working in the writing department and then the events department. When the time came to choose between GLAMOUR or my own baby, my Instagram, I knew which one I was going to choose.

Truth be told, this isn’t my first blog, prior to moving to London, I was the proud owner of JustMoiFashion - a blog that truly encapsulated my passion for fashion and beauty during my teenage years. I credit that blog for really helping me develop my writing, my style, and my thoughts and ideas. I might not have known it at the time, but I was always somehow going to be involved in writing and fashion.

So why restart a blog now? Well, not only do I feel that I have outgrown my teenage blog, but for a long time I have been told that blogs are dead. You know what they say: people have shorter attention spans now… no one is interested in reading…its all about the visual… why put all the extra work in writing a blog when the money is on Instagram? Blah blah blah… I refuse to believe that. During my time in lockdown during the COVID 19 pandemic I was creating an enormous amount of content, fashion and beauty campaigns, food videos, and while my visual content was stimulating, a critical aspect was missing - words. I strongly believe that people like me still exist. People who want to find a virtual escape: a destination where you can get lost in all the things that you love… for me that is fashion, beauty and food. Essentially, this blog.

I’m calling this blog my virtual home because it truly is. Here you’ll find everything that you will find in my physical home: good food, clothes and makeup everywhere, and a little bit of fun and humour. I hope you enjoy becoming immersed in my home - everyone needs an escape and I hope this might just become yours.
