We all know that feeling when a bathroom stops us in our tracks. But how do you actually design a space like that?
Let me show you the step-by-step process behind this gorgeous bathroom.
First, we need to get the layout right. I've already done a detailed layout breakdown, and you can find the link here:

Next—and don't skip this step—write down a clear design direction. For this bathroom, we wanted a luxurious, nature-inspired space with earthy tones, natural materials, beautiful marble, brass tapware, and a sense of movement and visual interest.
Once you have that written down, every design decision becomes much easier and more intentional.
With the layout sorted, I decided to start with choosing the vanity and design everything else around it.
This is a common approach when creating a more dynamic bathroom where we need focal ascent points.
I chose this beautiful Soho House vanity because it perfectly combines luxury and nature. The timber detailing, fluted fronts, integrated handles, and marble worktop are so rich, layered and full of character.
And honestly, finding a wooden vanity with this much personality is just not easy. Most timber vanities on the market tend to be either very minimal or quite traditional, which wasn't the look we were after.
Next, I started thinking about the wall finishes. I knew I wanted marble in the space, but I didn't want to cover everything with it. That would have made the room feel heavier, high rocket the budget, and take away from the natural feeling we were trying to achieve.
Instead, I paired the marble with wallpaper.
I started building the scheme on a mood board, testing different wallpaper options until I landed on this beautiful forest-inspired design.
With the wallpaper and vanity selected, it became clear that a light marble with warm undertones would work beautifully with both. That's how I found these amazing Calacatta Amber marble tiles.
