Dream Design’s expanded Design Centre in Christchurch, Dorset, offers an insight into the studio’s approach to kitchen design, bathroom design and complete residential interiors, bringing leading design houses, specialist craftsmanship and a materials library together within considered lifestyle settings.

A room setting can begin a conversation that a drawing or an individual sample cannot. A client might respond to the atmosphere before recognising what creates it: the proportions of the furniture, the relationship between materials, the placement of lighting or the detail of the cabinetry. Exploring that response can reveal as much about their aspirations as a written brief.

This beautiful kitchen design began in the Ledbury Studio showroom, when the owner of a central London townhouse was drawn to the studio’s signature Verdigris copper. But she so loved the effect that she asked that the Verdigris be boosted even more.

The kitchen is part of a complete two-year renovation of a stunning Georgian townhouse in central London. The client’s brief to her designer was to create a home that was ‘better than any hotel, superlatively comfortable, flexible to their needs and alive’.

Karta Floors has expanded its Recycled Leather Series with an oversized herringbone format created for contemporary interiors. Each block measures 200mm x 900mm x 9mm, giving the familiar pattern greater scale, stronger rhythm and a confident presence across open-plan spaces.

The increased proportions give grain movement, tonal shifts and individual timber characteristics room to register across the floor. Designers can use the format to define focal areas, establish routes and mark changes in function, with a square-shoulder edge maintaining a precise, uninterrupted pattern.

At Orchard House, Lewis Knox Interior Design aim was to reimagine what a country home could feel like – to honour the character of a traditional oak frame build while giving it a lighter, brighter sensibility. Joining the project during the build stage, they were able to influence key design decisions early and ensure the interior worked seamlessly with the architecture.

Finishes were chosen for their texture and subtlety, with painted cabinetry, timber detailing and stone surfaces balanced against layered fabrics and softer furnishings. Each room feels light and open, with a natural flow from one space to the next.

When people see a finished interior, they naturally notice what is there. The furniture. The lighting. The materials. The colours. The joinery. All the things that can be seen, touched and photographed. As a designer, Pavlina Campbell, Founder of Pinterior.space, often finds herself thinking about something else entirely: all the things that are no longer there.

By the time a project is finished, much of the work that shaped it has disappeared. And perhaps that is exactly as it should be.

Good design often feels obvious once you see it. The room feels balanced. You move through it naturally. The proportions feel right. Nothing seems to be trying too hard. But achieving that simplicity can be surprisingly complicated.

Cambridge-based interior design studio Styled Home Design has completed the refurbishment of The Cricketers, a much-loved pub and Thai restaurant on Melbourne Place in central Cambridge. The project reimagines the venue as two complementary spaces, a traditional English pub at the front and an atmospheric, restaurant-led dining room at the rear, all delivered on a modest budget.

Known locally for serving authentic Thai food within a traditional pub setting, The Cricketers recently changed ownership. The new team wanted to build on the venue’s strong reputation, but after more than a decade without significant investment, the interiors had become dated and disconnected. The owners needed a clearer identity and an environment that worked harder commercially.

Working alongside Absolute Architecture, the brief for Hillview House was to modernise a traditional country home and connect it seamlessly with a striking new extension. Pia Design clients wanted a home that felt contemporary and cool, but still belonged in its rural setting – balancing clean lines and bespoke detailing with natural materials, rich colour and a softer, more rustic sensibility.

As a busy family home, practicality was just as important as aesthetics. Materials needed to be hard-wearing and forgiving, storage was carefully integrated throughout, and the overall scheme needed to feel timeless enough to evolve as the family grows. The result is a colourful, characterful home where contemporary interventions sit comfortably alongside subtle references to traditional country-house design.
