Wacky Chocolate Depression Cake
Ingredients:
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp white vinegar
⅓ cup vegetable oil
1 cup water
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F). Grease an 8x8-inch baking pan.
In the pan or a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
Make three wells in the dry ingredients. Pour vanilla into one, vinegar into another, and oil into the third.
Pour water over everything and mix until smooth.
Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
Let cool before slicing. Serve as is or with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Bacon Onion Tomato Pie
Ingredients:
1 pre-made or homemade pie crust
6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 large tomatoes, sliced and patted dry
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup mayonnaise
1 egg
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp dried oregano or basil
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F).
Blind-bake the pie crust for 10 minutes, then let cool slightly.
Sauté onions in bacon drippings until soft.
Layer bacon, onions, and tomato slices in the crust.
Mix cheese, mayonnaise, egg, salt, pepper, and oregano, then spread over the top.
Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown.
Let cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm.

Guinness Beef Stew
Ingredients:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
900g (2 lbs) stewing beef, cut into chunks
Salt & black pepper, to taste
1 large onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 tbsp flour
500ml (2 cups) Guinness stout
500ml (2 cups) beef stock
2 carrots, sliced
2 potatoes, cubed
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 tsp dried thyme (or 2 sprigs fresh thyme)
2 bay leaves
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions:
Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Season beef with salt and pepper, then sear in batches until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same pot, sauté onion and garlic until softened. Stir in tomato paste and flour, cooking for 1 minute.
Pour in Guinness, scraping up any browned bits. Add beef stock, carrots, potatoes, celery, thyme, bay leaves, and Worcestershire sauce. Return beef to the pot.
Bring to a simmer, cover, and cook on low heat for 2 to 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally, until the beef is tender.
Remove bay leaves, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.

1️⃣ Make the dough:

Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

For the tomato beef sauce:
🥩 150g minced beef
🍅 400g canned crushed tomatoes
🧄 1 garlic clove (minced)
🧅 1/2 onion (chopped)
🌿 1 tsp dried oregano
🥄 1 tbsp tomato paste
🧂 Salt & pepper (to taste)

🧄 1 garlic clove (minced)
🥚 1 egg (for sealing)
🥢 8 egg roll wrappers
🛢️ Oil (for frying)

For serving (optional):
🌶️ Remoulade sauce or spicy mayo
