EXACTLY what everyone needs right now is a cosy country, spoiling mini break at - incredible food, next level service (and interiors by The Mint List!).

We’ve been busy bringing Christmas twinkle to The Royal George which is officially looking festive and fabulous. 🌲 ✨

Introducing the six Heritage Rooms and suites at , that have each been thoughtfully designed to pay homage to notable historical figures and their nautical connections.

The Deane Suite specifically honours the Deane Brothers, Charles and John Deane, celebrated Welsh inventors acclaimed for their groundbreaking work in underwater diving technology during the mid-19th century. They are best known for developing one of the first modern diving helmets, which played a crucial role in various underwater operations, notably the salvage attempts of HMS Royal George.

This served as fabulous design inspiration for us, in terms of sourcing historic artwork, items of interest and accoutrements. The quirky lines of the historic structure, with its lowered doorways and original features blend seamlessly with tactile soft furnishings and textiles from paired with bespoke timber furniture and elements made by our fabulous local metal worker Melvin.

Delighted to share some new images of this incredible project that we have been so busy with over the last year. The Royal George was a real full-circle moment for me, having grown up nearby. To then be able to return home to the Welsh mountains to renovate and refurbish this historic building to create a twenty bedroom pub hotel in such a familiar setting - was absolutely dreamy.

Being located a stone’s throw from the breathtaking ruins of 12th century Tintern Abbey and with an interior scheme underpinned by the wild backdrop of the Wye Valley, The Royal George has proudly reclaimed its original name . Hailed as one of the oldest pubs in Wales, local legend says the building even contains timber salvaged from the 18th century shipwreck HMS Royal George. Craftsmanship was key, with celebrated Welsh makers and local materials at the heart of the design with a nod to its namesake’s nautical heritage.

Now we’ve hung up our Royal George boots, it’s been so lovely to return and see the fruits of our labour being enjoyed. The warm welcome by the incredible staff at The Royal George really is second to one! We thoroughly recommend a stay if you can get in before Christmas. Make sure you try Gareth’s Cornish Scallops or mouthwatering Steak. Delish.

Behind the scenes on shoot day at The Royal George.

Two days of stepping over, hiding under, shuffling through and shimmying around whilst trying to stay out of shot … a LOT of hard work but smiles all round from my fabulous team.
