Has the upcoming clock change caught you by surprise and given you a fright? It did me!!! Don’t be afraid of the dark mornings! 👻 If your little one is now waking up at 5 or 6 am, that might feel a bit ghoulish! But don’t let it haunt your nights—together, we can make a few boo-tiful adjustments to bring back the morning peace!

Here’s a trick: let’s creep it real by shifting them gradually. For three days, let’s go halfway to the witching hour by just 30 minutes. So, if your baby normally naps at 9:30am, let them nap at the new 9am, and do the same for the afternoon nap. For bedtime, if they usually sleep at 7pm, put them down at 6:30pm—this will feel like 7:30pm to their little bodies.

After three days, return to normal timings, and let your sleepy skeleton adjust. Don’t panic if it takes a week for them to get back on track—those goblins need time to get their boo-groove back! And if you have any questions, drop me a line—I’m here to help you rest in peace! 🎃 🕸

If you are still using age appropriate wake windows, and you're pushing bedtime later and later just to accommodate that last nap of the day, it might be time to drop it!

I always tell my clients that it is best for our babies to have the same bedtime and wake up time. If you keep pushing their bedtime later, then you could be limiting the period of non-REM (deep sleep) that they could be having. This is needed to give them a full rest and recovery.

Here is a quick guide to help you decide how many naps might be best for your little one:
If your child is over 4 months old and still on 4 naps, with a late bedtime, cut to 3.
If your child is 6-9 months old and still on 3 naps, with a late bedtime, cut to 2.
If your child is 1year + with two naps and a late bedtime, cut to 1 nap.
If your child is over 2 and they've having late bedtime, bedtime battles, or split nights, let's chat about cutting the nap all together.

Naps on the go are often a necessity, especially during holidays! My advice, try to plan a car journey around nap time, if possible. Set off shortly before the nap to allow your little one time to adjust to their new surroundings. 🚗 😴
