📣 Funeral tribute prices are coming down.

As we move into spring and summer, some of our core flowers start to ease in price. One of the biggest ones is chrysanthemums, which play a huge role in funeral work.

When our costs come down, we pass that on. We’ve gone through our funeral range and reduced pricing across a number of key pieces. Wreaths, letters, cushions and more have all been adjusted, with reductions of at least £10 across the board.

It’s a small change, but at a time when everything else seems to be going up, it felt important to do the right thing.

Funeral flowers are more about paying respect less about margins. If you need any guidance, or want to talk through options, we’re always here.

If we’re being honest, it doesn’t exactly feel like spring out there. It’s still cold, grey, and to top it off, London’s dealing with tube strikes all week which just makes everything that bit harder than it needs to be.

Getting around isn’t easy right now, and it definitely isn’t cheap either. So we thought instead of adding to that, we’d take a bit of the pressure off.

For the rest of April, we’re offering free local delivery on all orders.

If you’ve been meaning to send something, check in on someone, or just brighten up a day that probably needs it, this is a good time to do it without the extra hassle. We’ll get it there.

“Can you make me something” is probably a request we get at least once a day. It’s a trivial question to us, because we’re florists - but we find it always catches people off guard when we say “Yes, of course we can”.

We’ve been thinking about this a lot, and the more we hear it, the more it makes sense why people ask. We understand a lot of shops don’t actually have a florist working all day. They’re either there to be sold what’s already made, or they don’t sell flowers by the stem so there’s no flexibility to build anything from scratch.

That’s not how we operate and this is how it’s always been for us since day one: If we’re open, there’s a florist here who is hard at work and wants to make something special for you.

It means you can;

🌹Or even just buy a single flower.

There is two important pillars that hold up Van Arthur which is; we carry the stock, and we have the hands to work with it.

Every wreath starts the same way.

A simple wire frame, built up by hand with fresh moss.
That moss isn’t just for looks. It holds water, keeps everything hydrated, and is what keeps the wreath alive over the coming weeks.

From there, it’s stem by stem.
Layering in foliage, shape, movement. Adjusting, stepping back, going again.

It’s a meticulous process. It takes time.
But that’s the point.

There’s no shortcut to getting it right.

It’s Easter week at Van Arthur! 🐣 The shop is full of spring colour and we can’t think of a better place to be this week. We’ve revised our opening hours so we can still serve you during the bank holiday weekend.

🌷 Good Friday 3rd April - Open 10am to 4pm
🌷 Saturday 4th April - Open 10am to 4pm
🌿 Easter Sunday 5th April - Closed, but delivery is still available. Just get your order in before 2pm on Saturday.
🌿 Bank Holiday Monday 6th - Closed and resting (we’re only human)
🌷 Tuesday 7th April - Back to normal, see you then

A little note from us.

Mother’s Day brings a level of demand we simply don’t see at any other time of year. It’s by far the busiest period in our florist calendar. One order often becomes two or three as people buy for their mum, their partner, their mother-in-law, sometimes even a grandmother as well.

Every single one of those bouquets still needs to be made by hand in our shop.

The truth is, when the website stays open we have very little control over how many orders come in. They can arrive faster than we can physically produce them. And the one thing we will never do is promise something we can’t deliver. Letting someone down on Mother’s Day just isn’t an option.

So for now we’ve paused online orders for the weekend while we catch up and make sure every bouquet already entrusted to us is made and dispatched properly.

This may change if we find we have capacity again, but for the moment we’d rather be careful than careless.

Most importantly, thank you. The support we’ve seen this year has honestly been overwhelming and we’re incredibly grateful that so many people trust Van Arthur to take care of such an important moment. 🌸

We’ve seen a huge wave of orders come through today, which means one of two things. Either everyone has suddenly become very organised this year… or it’s shaping up to be a very huge weekend for us. As always, there will be a limit to the number of bouquets we can physically make.
