There are many excellent theatre companies producing new writing, but most are building-based and consist of a permanent administration / artistic direction which employs actors and creative as and when required. A slightly different approach has been adopted by STAGEHAND PRODUCTIONS, a collective of “Associates” – a mix of long-established, highly-respected theatre practitioners and some much new
er to theatre. Their skills embrace acting, writing, directing, producing, designing (set, costume, sound, and lighting), musicianship, composing, stage-managing, tour-managing - even a professional Argentine tango dancer! As the project expands and raises funds new Associates may be added to the current list of some 20 artists. Stagehand is keen to hear from people who are genuinely interested in staging new plays who may wish to become an Associate or to assist with administration, marketing and fund-raising. Stagehand Ltd has been around for several years, predominantly as a stage services company, but, in its earlier guise as Living Theatre (founded in 1994) produced several new plays and UK premieres of American plays and staged various charity events.
