Today’s trip down memory lane leads us to Triptych Bankside, an audaciously designed development next to Tate Modern.

While many new-build residences are criticised for their cookie-cutter architecture, limited outdoor space and lacklustre views, Triptych is praised for its design bravado, where a glinting, rippling exterior shapes generous terraces, unimpeded vistas and openness for light to pour in.

You can tell we’re fans, which is why whenever we’ve been asked to design a show flat there, we’ve leapt at the chance.

Richard Angel and Ed O’Donnell can tell you the rest.

From old classics to contemporary must-haves, Livingetc has it covered.

Choosing your favourite coffee table is like choosing your favourite child if, like us, you consider furniture every bit as precious as your children. Even if you have more perspective, it’s still a challenge – but one we happily stepped up to.

Three of our favourite coffee tables have made the list – and what a list it is. If ever there was a time to pour yourself a coffee (or a home measure of something more relaxing) and covet coffee tables, this is it.

Where Powerhouse at Chelsea Waterfront offers architectural drama, we come bearing warmth, colour, contour, texture and pattern.

Honey-hued slip bricks, cedar-red wallpaper, pebble-smooth Canaletto walnut armchairs, shimmering London Plane shelves, a pear-shaped marble coffee table, a sage green velvet sofa, skin-soft leather chairs and a hand-knotted rug by Angel O’Donnell and Riviere Rugs .

These elements – and more besides – transform a large, vaulted space into a home; one that offers intimacy, cosiness and a sense of belonging.

We’re rewinding back to 2021 and a little Georgian gem in the heart of Chelsea. Despite having good bones, the interiors were sad and spiritless, crying out for colour, texture, pattern and an abundance of cosy, cushiony comfort.

We layered in hundreds of fabrics and trims, embellishing every cushion, headboard, window treatment and piece of furniture. The result is a creatively inspired home, jewel-toned, art-filled, contoured and, above all, snugly.

*Made for lounging, lying and lazing*

We love the principal bedroom at Chelsea Powerhouse (if we do say so ourselves).

All its curvy, creamy, mushroomy, touchy-feely, pattern-rich elements excite and soothe in equal measure.

Elitis arch-relief wallpaper echoes the building’s monumental façade, while bronze lamps, grooved walnut bedsides and a bespoke Angel O’Donnell headboard-daybed hybrid upholstered in Métaphores Paris 'Eden' tapestry add pattern and depth.

It’s always naptime somewhere in the world 💤

*Powering a new industrial chic*

Developers have been known for their reliance on derivative design, a sort of paint-by-numbers approach to interiors that neither offends nor impresses. But when a developer is brave enough to take on an industrial icon, they’re not looking for meh, they’re looking for magic.

That’s where we love to shine – proving time and again that when you put people at the heart of your creations, developer-led projects can be every bit as layered as a private home.

AD Middle East immerses itself in a scheme that revels in striking shapes, strong colours and roomfuls of personality.

*A room friends and family will thrill to stay in*

Chain-hung artwork, mural wallpaper reminiscent of an impressionist painting, warm neutrals paired with inchyra-blue accents, a tiered chandelier, and a full-height arched mirror above a dressing area all contribute to its inviting charm.

Artworks include:

• Jean-Michel Basquiat screen print
• Francis Bacon etching
• John Craxton pencil portrait of Lucian Freud
• Three watercolours by Sir Cecil Beaton depicting costume designs for Love’s Labour’s Lost, Picnic in Tintagel, and Les Illuminations.

If you want to impress loved ones, this is the way to do it.

Lipstick-red stools, Kermit-green dressing tables and lamps shaped like twisty marshmallows – the kid’s bedroom is playful, with just the right balance of refined design to see it mature into teenage years.

When little ones grow up and fly the nest, it’ll make a great guest room for adults who are children at heart.

Sensuous, gorgeously contoured, eye-catching ... and that’s just the light!

Ho******ic forms – both beautiful and provocative – fill the kitchen, presiding over a handcrafted banquette and a nutmeg-brown Emperador marble table.

It’s a convivial marriage of mischievousness and maturity, of searingly bright and soothingly muted.

*Playful palettes, meaningful materials*

In the living room, warm slip bricks and cedar-red chevron wallpaper add texture and comfort, both echoing Powerhouse’s industrial heritage.

Pendants by Belgian designers Muller Van Severen swing above a ‘harlequin’ dining table and tactile leather chairs, their looping cords draw your eyes in different directions, inviting playful exploration.

Nearby, a kinetic sculpture by Catherine Hicks celebrates the ‘moving spirit of London’ – a nod to Powerhouse’s transport legacy.

These details, while subtle, are locked into the fabric of the building, adding beauty and storytelling to the scheme.
