Fairport’s Cropredy Convention ♥️ you have refilled my cup to overflowing- thank you ✨

I took a total of five pictures all weekend (swipe 👉) - and none of my stall - so I added a random pic first! But my head is still all agog with wonder and magic ✨ thank you, thank you, thank you…

Thank you to my fantastic neighbours - Harriet and Andy - we love you guys TheSpiralRock Andrew Pattenden and the fantastic Sam and Emma at the Veggie food place that kept us nutritiously (and conversationally) sustained with gorgeous salads (and banter!) through the heat 💚 (‘twas hot mind 🥵)

To every visitor and customer, to returning friends who came for a chat, to new friends, to kind words and catch ups - people make a festival - and you people are beautiful inside and out!

A huge thank you to Rupert, Mark and the whole gang of site coordinators, staff, stewards, security, volunteers and supporters who make Fairport’s Cropredy Convention surely the friendliest and best festival in the world…

And of course to Fairport Touring for aural delights, and always curating the best mad mix of musicians to keep (almost 😳) everyone happy (a special mention to someone new to me but who blew me away with the most gorgeous voice, and hands that literally pirouetted gracefully across his guitar- mesmerising to watch - Danny Bradley - thank you - a new fan here!)

I’m counting down the days until next year….and the 60th anniversary too….see you soon Cropredy - with love 💚✨

‘Tis the night before Fairport’s Cropredy Convention - and a frantic push to package & label all the new bits and bobs…

And I’ve still got to trim my lampshade….😳😱 (I did finish sewing it though…😅)

But excited to be back to share the field with the best fellow traders (see you tomorrow ) and the best customers! (Thursday- we will be ready - promise 😜) (notwithstanding heatwave number 327…🥵🔥)

(but I actually find these daft images quite fascinating and they makes me think of a slightly scary 1930s sci-fi type film with some half organic, half robot ‘growth’ spreading…. 😱🎥 😂 …but that’s just me! What do you see…? )

So light and delicate, yet vibrant and versatile - vintage silk sari remnants 🤩🙌✨🌿 these saris may no longer have been wearable as garments but there’s plenty to salvage and repurpose.

As my first term leading forest school sessions for a couple of days a week has come to an end, I wanted to create something special and lasting for the children to commemorate our wonderful sessions stitching together art and nature.

It’s been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to share my passion of our wonderful natural environment and my joy of crafting and creating with these incredible young minds. The freedom and immediacy of their interactions and conversations with materials through mark making has been a real inspiration to me.

Watching their sensory explorations unfold has reminded me to examine and focus on my own relationships with materials and the world around me, and to try and free up my preconceptions, my expectations, and just enjoy process for process’ sake. To celebrate the ‘doing’, and to try and disassociate with the need or drive for an end result or product all the time.
We definitely have a mutually symbiotic relationship in our forest school!

That said, I did seriously question my life choices whilst trying to complete 30 patch-worked, lined and zipped treasure pouches in a day and a half…I wouldn’t recommend 😂😅

Having the best time at Studio 24 as part of farOpen Art Trail & Artists with the wonderful and super talented ’other Jen’ Jennifer Johnson in her beautiful studio in Clearwell. Jen has a vast and varied array of exciting workshops for all things stitch - and as I’ve attended a fair few - i can attest to her exemplary teaching skills, and really well put together accompanying notes ☺️

Thanks to everyone who has already visited - we will be here until Sunday - 10 - 4 each day - so do pop in if you’re passing ✨🌿☺️

I’m honoured and blessed to be nabbing a corner of the wonderfully talented and inspirational (and frankly hilarious) Jennifer Johnson in her beautiful studio in Clearwell - and I can’t wait! Jens ‘R’ Us 😉

A (very) small collection of Fire Horse inspired goodies will hopefully be on display…if life gives me a moment to enjoy my making! 😅
