Don't want to blow our own trumpet, so we've been a bit quiet since the last Malvern Antique Fair.

So time to blow the whistle.. Here is a whistle around 140 years old. Joseph Hudson and his brother James founded the company in 1870s and they won a competition to create whistles for Metropolitan police in 1883. By 1884 they were producing these whistles for police forces across the United Kingdom and they moved premises in 1887-1888, further down Barr Street.

This whistle with design and shape is from around 1885, confirmed with the 131 Barr St.

Today, J Hudson & Co Whistles Ltd / Acme Whistles still make them.

Normal Room Light / UV Black Light / Spot Light

That's what this glass ruffled basket with thorn stem handle looks like, and this camera isn't doing it justice.

I learnt recently that not just Uranium Glass looks nice under Ultraviolet, Glass with Selenium and or Cadmium can pop amazing too.

This piece will be going with me in fortnight to Malvern Antiques Fair.

Last year I ended up with a box of mixed items and this was in the bottom of it.

'What is it?' You might wonder..

It is a 19th Century, brass 'Salvator Mundi' Medallion, with the depiction of Jesus Christ on one side, with the Inscription "JESUS NOTRE ÉPOUX AYEZ PITIÉ DE NOUS" which translates to 'Jesus our Lord, Have Mercy on Us' and on the other side is a depiction of Mary Virgin Mother, with the words: "MARIE NOTRÉ MĖRE PRIEZ POUR NOUS" which translates to 'Mary, our Mother, Pray for Us."

This is a French Catholic Medallion with artwork from Adolphe Lavée (1840-1903), a French Sculptor, artist and medalist.

A great present for those of Faith for something over 120 years old, £10.

Whiskey Wednesday? Well any spirit or tipple in this mini flask would do.

The Greenheys Hotel was situated at 81 Vine Street, Hulme, Manchester. The pub opened in 1853 and sadly closed in 1964 and was demolished for regeneration project to that area.

The Waltons had the pub around 1870s, so this flash is about 150 years old, how something less than 4 inches / 10 cms has survived is impressive.

How many people had a Tuesday Club? Bringing you something different, and an organisation that this year celebrated 100 years since founding;

A vintage lapel pin badge for the NABC, which stands for the National Association of Boys' Clubs, now known as the National Association of Boys and Girls Clubs (NABGC). This pin badge is from the Marlborough-Swindon Camp Club, and is smaller than a modern day pound coin, that it is stood on!

"Founded on 24 October 1925 as the National Association of Boys' Clubs (NABC) in order to consolidate the Boys' and Lads' Club movement which had been growing steadily since the latter quarter of the 19th century. At the time the vast majority of boys left formal education at the age of 14 and began life in employment.

To many boys the street was the only place available to socialise once they had finished work, which became seen as a social problem. The boys' club movement therefore aimed to provide these working class boys with a place to socialise and have access to positive activities in their leisure time."
