Its World Photography Day today, and your venue is being photographed whether you like it or not. Every hospitality and retail space gets photographed by the people using it. Those photos do more for you than most of your marketing, and the lighting decides whether they are worth posting.

Flat downlights from directly above are the usual culprit. Hard shadows under the eyes, colour drained out of the food, and nothing for a phone camera to work with.

Layered light photographs far better. Something low and warm at table height, a wall wash behind, and a feature piece picking out texture. Our Flow and feature ranges are built for exactly that middle layer, the one most schemes skip.

CRI 90 and what it does to a retail display. ✨✨

CRI (Colour Rendering Index) is how faithfully a light source shows the colours that are actually there.

Cheaper LEDs sit around CRI 80 or below, which is fine for a warehouse and disappointing for anything you want people to buy.

Reds go flat, skin looks grey, timber loses its warmth.

Our retail and hospitality specifications run at CRI 90 and above, so stock looks the way it does in daylight. ✅

Customers get what they expected when they open the box at home, which is one of the quieter reasons good lighting brings returns down.✅
