1/12 - Gold Leader 'Hutch'
"Red Leader, this is Gold Leader, we are making our way to the target shaft now!"
Base Body: Andor Test Pilot
3D Parts on Etsy
Paint work, so this was 100% a project i stuck alot of love in too, the rebel pilot base figure we have atm is so terrible and just using this new body plus 3d parts deffo super highlights this.
Upon breaking down the parts, i base primed them all in Green Stuff World black primer, then gave a directional down highlight pass with white to help bake in shadows. Now I've done this alot before, but this time it really hit just right due to the next step.
I used Tamiya Pure orange laqour paints thinned down and airbrushed on, it took a fair few layers to get a consistent pass, but the colour was opaque enough with being thinned down to be sprayed; it just built up super nicely on those baked shadows.
It is VERY toxic, so be sure to wear a respirator and a spray booth.
Once it drys too its alot more harder wearing than other paints, which is good.
Despite saying that the butterfly joints on this base figure are very hardy to get painted and stay painted, I elected to glue them in place to protect the paint work.
When you're using laqours, they are VERY shiny, so you HAVE to have a very good matt varnish after, i used AK ultra Matt, its fantastic stuff.
You need to cut down the com padd to be flat to get a similar ANH look. I should have made a decal now, I think about it,
Same for the shoulder imperial cog, too, get a knife and cut it off.
To get the breather tube in the correct position on the flight suit, you need to drill a small hole in the ab section, fortunatly there is a crease that is perfectly aligned for it.
The visor I did a tutorial on my youtube how too.
The ladders I just made a simple 3D model and FDM printed it on my Bambu Lab A1 Mini.
