There's something about this time of year that makes me want to sketch winter trees...even though the ones outside are still very much full of leaves 🤔 These little ones have very different colour paleetes - let me know if you have a favourite?

If you're looking for something arty to do this weekend, launches it's 2025 Open Exhibition on Saturday 30th August, with work from an amazing 135 artists (including me!) The gallery itself is beautiful; a converted barn, in the charming village of Castle Donington. The launch event is between 2-5 p.m., and Castle Donington also has some lovely independent shops and places to eat and drink, if you fancy making a day of it!

Well, this was a fantastic surprise! My art made into a poster, on display in the Northern Quarter, Manchester! I always wanted to be a street artist, do you think this counts? Thank you so much to and JACK ARTS for featuring my work, and for bringing more art to our streets. More power to you!

Sometimes a painting knows it's finished before I do; I go through my 'work in progress' pile and discover one (or two) that have decided, whilst I wasn't looking, that they're complete. Sneaky things! I'm still mulling over whether I prefer the tree in portrait or landscape format - any thoughts??

My plan this afternoon was to experiment with painting in neutrals...apparently, in my head, cadmium red counts as a neutral 😂 p.s. Please excuse the 'artist's manicure'!

I've started a new series of abstract paintings, inspired by the idea of "the red thread of fate" - a belief that two souls are connected by an invisible red thread, that can never be broken. I love the poetry of that. Interestingly, it echoes the quantum physics theory of entanglement (stay with me!) - two particles that remain connected, even if separated by light years. These are some sketchbook explorations of the theme. Do you believe in the red thread of fate? 🎨

I think the glorious summer weather has infiltrated my colour palette...I was just getting used to yellow appearing in my paintings, and now I need to get my head round pink! I might need a sit down 😂
