What I’ve been up to this week…

This week has been all about getting a Central Bedford townhouse ready for sale.

The house is very much a 70s home, and rather than trying to strip all of that character away, I wanted to work with it. The aim was to give it a fresher, more considered feel by using warmer tones, simple styling, updated finishes and a few subtle nods to the era.

There’s been plenty happening behind the scenes too, from installing curtain poles and window treatments, to bringing the new cloakroom together, styling the rooms and making sure the outdoor spaces feel just as considered as the inside.

I’ve also been working closely with trades on the practical details, including relocating and replacing a boiler and incorporating the new cupboard into the overall design so it feels intentional rather than added on afterwards.

Alongside that, I’ve been progressing a kitchen design for another client and spent three hours at a new-home consultation, where we worked through the layout and developed a colour palette for the whole property.

A huge thank you to the brilliant team behind the scenes — Alex @ Master of Maintenance, Adrian, Phil, Hamid, Andy at Millingtons and Damian Lgb Vision — for helping bring everything together.

A very varied week of staging, design, planning and practical problem-solving.

What have I been up to this week?

There have definitely been some long days this week — and at times my place has looked more like a delivery depot! 📦

It’s been one of those very busy, behind-the-scenes weeks, with lots of sourcing, tracking deliveries, finding replacements for items that have suddenly become unavailable, collecting orders, chasing suppliers and plenty of conversations with trades to keep everything moving

I’ve also been working on cloakroom designs and writing up detailed design work for some of the larger projects I’ll be working on over the coming months.

And some lovely news amongst all the juggling — The property we recently staged has already received an offer! 🏡

Some weeks are more about the planning, problem-solving and juggling behind the scenes — all the things that get us to those lovely, finished photos at the end of the journey.

Where in the world is my vanity unit? 🌍🚢

Somewhere amongst all those tiny arrows is the container ship carrying a bespoke vanity unit I designed for a bathroom project!

Along with all the other deliveries I’m tracking for a home-staging project this week—each one hopefully arriving before staging installation day—I’m becoming something of a tracking expert! 😂

Interior design isn’t all mood boards and beautiful fabrics—sometimes it’s refreshing tracking pages and willing ships and delivery vans to move faster!

Hopefully, everything arrives safely and on time—and the next photograph of this vanity unit will be of it installed in its new home. 🤞

**This 1970s townhouse transformation is really beginning to take shape!**

The decorating has been progressing over in Bedford, and it has been fascinating to watch the new colour transform the space.

When Dulux Heritage Chiltern White was first painted beside the existing magnolia, every trade who entered the house said, **“It looks very grey!”** There were definitely a few concerned faces!

Once the magnolia was completely covered, however, it settled into the soft, warm neutral I had chosen—and they have all since fallen in love with it too. Sometimes you just have to trust the process!

It’s a lovely reminder that colour is never seen in isolation. Its appearance is influenced by the surrounding colours, natural and artificial light, and the other finishes within the space. That’s why the same paint colour can look completely different from one home—or even one room—to another.

Behind these photographs, there is also plenty happening. This week has been all about sourcing, ordering, logging and tracking the furniture, lighting, window treatments and finishing details, alongside checking measurements, coordinating trades and making practical adjustments when something doesn’t work as expected.

Interior design and home staging involve so much more than choosing lovely things—it’s the planning, procurement and problem-solving that bring everything together.

We’re now approaching the exciting stage of transporting the furnishings and getting everything into place. I can’t wait to see it fully installed and styled!

A before & after from a home I haven’t shared yet…

Sometimes a colour consultation is all it takes to unlock a whole new level of confidence.

When this client moved in, the house was a real blank canvas — a chance to make it completely her own.

She booked a colour consultation to help establish the direction for the house and how those colours could be carried through into furnishings, artwork and accessories.

From there, she really trusted the process and became more confident with her choices, gradually embracing stronger colour, pattern and more individual touches throughout.

The result is a space full of personality and character — and, most importantly, one she absolutely loves.

A little look at what I’ve been up to… ✨

This fortnight has included plenty of design work, client meetings and project planning — but one of the highlights was seeing this beautiful Milton Keynes home fully staged and ready for market.

The colour palette was inspired by the lovely soft blue exterior and conservatory, carrying gentle blues, greys and neutrals through the interior to make the whole house feel connected, warm and welcoming.

That’s really what home staging is about — helping buyers understand the space, how they might live there, and creating that all-important emotional connection.

A huge amount of work went into preparing this house, and my clients worked incredibly hard to make it happen. It’s lovely to see all that effort come together in the finished result. 💙
