Let's talk about handles. Here's a little series where I tried to capture the process of pulling handles on mugs. It's a part of the making process I have had a tricky relationship with and probably found it scarier than getting my clay centred.

I persevered in the quest for comfy handles and eventually managed to get the technique right and the handles are looking comfier than ever.

The pulled blanks.

Mug is scored and slipped then the blank is attached and pulled.

Then the other end of the handle is pressed on to the body of the mug.

Then I leave the handles to firm up.

And then I'll check the shape, make some adjustments and clean them up.

Life Lately. Having the best pal at Willersey Farmers Market where my Woodland Vase finally found a new home, an emotional parting.

Dry summer doesn't mean no fungi friends to find. This chicken of the woods was spotted on our walk back down after the Eclipse.

And these incredible birds nest fungi blew my mind. I found them while crawling along weeding trees at the job I got let go from on Monday. Ready or not we're going full self employed baby!

A gorgeous eclipse viewing spot, you can see it in the flare in the grass.

Busy finishing my order for Ajora ™ | Home & Wellness glaze firing this week!

I have started some gardening work too. My first two gardens are about clearing away overgrown borders after lost loved ones who were the gardeners of the house. Feeling so fulfilled by this work and the tea and homemade cake certainly helps.

Beautiful damsons, so bountiful the branches are hanging lower than I have ever seen. I think there's a pattern for a pot here.

Mixing glaze to finish my order.

A little bee friend on my Astrantia Sparkling Stars, I tried to help them but unfortunately they were in a bad way and passed away after a last meal of nectar and honey.

There's so much going on in this tiny studio at the moment. Reclaiming clay, kiln ready to be emptied and put on again, clay ready to be thrown and a wholesale order to finish. Alongside all this I have been working 5 days a week and trying to get out and do summer.

The shape of my days has changed a little with the heat meaning I have a lot less energy at the end of a day job day and small tasks seem like too much. I have now dropped a friday but plan to use this to do some freelance gardening to work towards a more versatile and sustainable self employed life.

Once this big order is done I'll be turning my thoughts to booking fairs for Christmas and making more illustrated vases.
