Life, work & a free bench 🤪 . . .

Family time (that was very long overdue), proud moments ✨, vintage finds, exciting ideas, a random free bench (that involved quite the journey back home on the roof rack) . . . It’s been a pretty good month & theres a lot to be thankful for. There’s been the usual doubts & questioning what I’m doing, but that’s just me.

šŸ‚ Let’s see what September brings . . . What are you most looking forward to?

A little seasonal shift . . .

My floral choices always follow the seasons as I love being inspired by what’s going on around me, such as the subtle changes in colour & texture as we head towards the end of the year.

This one still has plenty of soft neutrals & muted purples, with a little added warmth from the deeper golden yarrow.

I’m really loving yarrow at the moment (even though I do have a bit of an issue with the colour yellow, as some of you will know!). There’s something about it that gives botanical arrangements that lovely loose, natural, meadowy feel & very seasonal right now.

There’ll be a few little dried flower bouquets appearing soon, each with its own mix of colours & textures. Perfect for treating yourself or a friend . . . just because šŸ˜‰.

A love of things with a story . . . šŸ¤Ž

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for all things vintage. The worn wood, the faded colours, little imperfections - and wondering what little story something has before it’s made its way to me.

Some things are particularly special though. The vintage cotton reels here belonged to my great-nan & must be around 70 years old, if not more. I love that they’ve made their way through the generations & now sit amongst my own little textiles collection.

Others are simply lovely finds - old drawers, vintage books or pieces that I just stumble across. Hunting for these & imagining where they’ll live brings me a lot of joy.

So it’s no surprise that my love of all things vintage inspires my creations too - the colour choices, fabrics, flowers . . . It’s just all very me.

It feels like the perfect time to lean into my love of vintage a little more šŸ¤Ž.

✨ What’s the best vintage find you’ve ever stumbled across? . . .

Trusting my instincts a little more . . .

Running a tiny handmade business has taught me that no matter however much you plan, things have a funny way of taking their own course. And learning to accept that you just can’t do it all is hard.

I’m slowly learning to stop trying to make something for everyone & focus instead on what I genuinely love creating, trusting that the right people will find it & love it too.

Some things work, some don’t, but there’s always something to learn from each piece you make. And sometimes the pieces you expect the least from are the ones that can take you in a completely different direction.

✨ So here’s to learning to trust myself a little more & doing autumn my way šŸ‚ . . . (eeeeek 😬!)

Sometimes stepping away is exactly what you need . . .

I hadn’t planned to take a full break & was fully intent on being more present on here, just not posting. But as soon as my week began, I knew I needed a proper break.

I’ve never taken a full week off of posting before - the perfectionism taking over & telling me it’ll ruin my account if I do. But that in itself made me realise that I need to make some changes.

And surprisingly, I stopped feeling so weighed down immediately. The creative juices began flowing, a wave of inspiration hit me & I felt more clarity about my small business than I ever have.

After giving myself the time & space that I didn’t realise I needed, I started really noticing things. And that’s where I’ve realised that the direction I want to take Kenzie Gabe & Co. in is actually much more connected to who I really am in my everyday life.

It’s about the things I naturally gravitate towards. The old, the nostalgic, the things with a character & a story. And adding my own little twist.

I’ve got plenty to keep me busy over the next few months, but rather than feeling hugely overwhelmed, I’m 80% excited & only 20% overwhelmed! And whilst I know creating content is important for my small business, I also know that sometimes easing off & redirecting your time & energy elsewhere can be equally as productive. So I may be posting less, but that just means I’m working on exciting things!

✨ Have you ever taken a proper step back from something only to realise you needed it far more than you realised? I’d love to know . . .

Sometimes the little things are the things that matter most . . . . šŸ¤

Next week, I’m going to be taking a little break from posting to enjoy some precious family time, making lovely memories & enjoying having everyone around for what feels like the first time in a very long time.

Rather than worrying about what I should be posting, I’m going to enjoy some quality time with my family & hopefully spend a little more time catching up with all of your lovely posts too. I often feel as though I’m so busy creating my own content that I don’t get enough time to see what everyone else is sharing, so I’m looking forward to having a little more time to be part of that side of Instagram too.

I’ll still be sharing little snippets over on Stories, but I’m giving myself a proper little breather from my content creator role for the week (and I cannot wait! 🤪).

I’ll be back the following week, hopefully feeling like a new woman and ready for pumpkins, wreaths & all things autumn! šŸ‚

šŸ¤ Life gets so chaotic & everyone is so busy, but sometimes, you just have to make the time for what matters in life šŸ¤.

It’s always the little things . . . ā¤ļø

Over the last year or so, I’ve realised that the people who are drawn to my work often have far more in common than simply liking the same colours.

They notice the little details. They appreciate beautiful textures. They love thoughtful gifts & things with stories behind them. And, if I’m honest, they’re probably also the sort of people who have to stop & test what something feels like, rather than just looking!

This year has very much been about trying new things & trusting my own style. The more I’ve simply been myself and created the things that make me happy, the more I’ve found people who notice & appreciate those same little things.

So a huge thank you from me just for being you ā¤ļø.

✨ Confession time… have you ever secretly given something a strokeability score? Or is that just me? 🤪 . . .
