A little more progress on Ted (yes I know his name now!)

Mostly finished his head here but think I still did some refining and there was definitely more woek on the ears to do! πŸ‘‚ πŸ™‰

Let me know what you think, looking forward to showing you the finished product!

How did I forget to share this guy with you all?

This was a drawing I completed in August (yes nearly a year ago) that I never got round to sharing. And apparently I never learned this lovely pooches name either!

Any guesses what his name may be?

For me it's not just about the drawing...

It's about the memory, or more likely set of memories, that drawing will bring back whenever it's looked at. This drawing for me will always bring back happy memories of my little boy and my dog starting to become friends.

What moment would you like a keepsake of?

πŸ‘£ A boy and his dog 🐾

Loved doing this little sketch to help me warm back up after taking a short pause on commissions! I'm now feeling ready to work my way though my bookings having now moved house and completed my Forest School Leader Qualification (woohoo!).

So if you have a commission booked in with me get looking for the photo you'd like me to draw as I'll be in touch soon!

Let me know what you think below! I'd love to do more drawings like this so get in touch if you're interested ☺️

Not quite Instagram-ready yet... πŸ“ΈπŸ˜‚

We've just moved into our new house (woohoo!) and I've squeezed in a tiny drawing corner amongst the boxes πŸ“¦ We won't decorate in here for quite some time, so my dream of a perfect backdrop for showcasing my art will have to wait!

Life's fun but chaotic with a new home, new job, a toddler, and the dog πŸ•, so I'm enjoying my little corner of calm where I can draw again.

The best news is... my pencils survived the move!

3 hours and counting for this 'quick sketch' πŸ˜‚!

I'm getting a bit carried away with the details, especially on his puddle suit. I'm yet to add the dinosaur pattern in an effort to save time but we'll see... πŸ¦–. Your thoughts would be great!

So good to be back drawing!

I've just sent off the last of my coursework for my Forest School Leader qualification and it was so nice to sit and start drawing a little something for me last night (rather than staring at a laptop doing coursework!). Also after not having drawn for a while it was good to start with something with no pressure attached to it! πŸ˜‚ Hopefully it won't take me long to finish this one and then I can start on some commissions I have lined up!

After finally posting a drawing of my niece and her dog which I did over a year ago, a few of you voted on my recent story for what photo I should try next in a similar looser, less detail focused, drawing. And the above drawing won it, can't wait to see how it turns out 😊

I look forward to being able to draw and post more now my coursework is done! We may be moving house soon... but I'm sure that won't take up much of my time... πŸ‘πŸ€” Any house moving tips?

Thoughts on this slightly sketchier style of drawing? πŸ€”

My brother-in-law asked me to draw from a gorgeous photo of my niece and their dog as a Christmas gift for my sister-in-law (his wife). However I didn't have much time to get it done so I said I could do it, on the condition that I did a more sketchy style drawing less focussed on the details I normally aim to capture in my work.

I'm so glad I gave it a go as I love how it turned out, not aiming for a drawing that looks just like a photo but instead embracing the fact it is a drawing and capturing the feel of the original rather than trying to create an exact copy!

Shall I do more like this or stick to my usual realistic style? What style are you more likely to buy?

The making of Kafka's eye πŸ‘οΈ

The eyes, or in this case eye, of any pet portrait is THE most important part. It brings the drawing to life and if it doesn't look right it can leave the drawing looking flat. This is why I always used to start with the eye to make sure I got it right before carrying on with the rest of the drawing. Now I'm a little more confident with my drawings, I tend to work from top left to bottom right to help prevent smudging.

Let me know what you think below and please give me a follow, it would mean a lot! ❀️

🐾 Meet Kafka 🐾

This is a drawing I did almost 3 years ago now but I never posted it as by the time it had been gifted my little boy Caleb had arrived!

I absolutely loved drawing Kafka so I'm excited to be able to share him with you all. He was a gift from a mother to a son. The son often travelled away from home so she wanted something for him to take with him as a reminder of the lovely Kafka.

I'd love to hear what you think of him below πŸ‘‡
