Located on the new The Auction Room - Hansons Newark alongside Corner farm kitchen we are brimming with Antiques, Collectables and more.

I am open Tuesday - Saturday, and as the site manager here, im always around!

The Journey of Memory Lane Antiques – A Story of Hope, Heritage & New Beginnings

It’s been a long journey—one filled with treasured memories, determination, and passion—for Memory Lane Antiques.

Dave and Carol took over the business on 23rd March 2020, with plans to open just a week later. But the world had other plans. The Covid pandemic struck, and like so many others, they were forced to delay their dream. It wasn’t until 15th June 2020 that they could finally open the doors.

Despite the uncertain times, hope remained strong. Not long after opening, the shop welcomed a visit from Antiques Road Trip featuring Phil Serrell. The episode aired in February 2021 and brought much-needed attention and joy. Then in 2022, the show returned—this time with Steven Moore and Nina Hossain.

In 2023, Carol and Dave met Charles Hanson. After a successful valuation day at the shop, Charles invited them to partner with Hansons Auctioneers and Valuers, establishing a Valuation and Consignment Centre inside Memory Lane Antiques. Monthly valuation days became a cherished tradition and continue to this day, now hosted at the Wheatsheaf Pub on King Street, Southwell, on the first Thursday of each month.

As trade in Southwell quietened, Dave and Carol faced the heart-wrenching decision to close the shop. But fate had another chapter in store. Charles, considering taking over Northgate Auction Rooms in Newark, asked for their honest opinion. Carol and Dave saw its potential—and its challenges—and were open about both.

Recognising their dedication and vision, Charles offered Carol the role of Site Manager and a new home for Memory Lane Antiques within the site, now renamed The Auction Room. Alongside it proudly stands Memory Lane Antiques – The Barn.

And now, we begin a new chapter—making more memories.

We’re excited to welcome back our old friends and greet new ones.

The Auction Room Newark

The site is undergoing a complete transformation and will soon be home to some exciting new additions:

Corner Farm Shop – A 5-star gem serving up delicious homemade cakes, savouries, and farm-fresh food, open Tuesday to Saturday.

Memory Lane Antiques – The Barn – Formerly located in Southwell, now bringing vintage charm and treasures to Newark.

Live & General Auctions

Get ready for a packed calendar of live auctions, plus general sales. We’ll even be holding Lost Property Charity Auctions where 100% of the proceeds go to charity – no profit taken by Hansons!

After many years of tradition, we're embracing a fresh new chapter – and we can't wait for you to be part of it. We officially open on May 10th with our first Live Auction (fingers crossed, as we’ve had a few setbacks – but we’re pushing ahead!).

In the meantime, we are OPEN for people looking to sell unwanted items, house clearances, or probate services.
