Sallie Eley is a contemporary artist who works with natural materials, including reclaimed wood and real dried and pressed flowers, preserving fleeting moments of nature in time. Her pieces are known for their vibrant colour, luminosity and intricate detail, often exploring themes inspired by the natural world.
Sallie is increasingly moving towards a more sustainable practice, using wood as a natural canvas. Sallie primarily works with driftwood, as well as reclaimed, felled and naturally discarded wood, allowing the grain, texture and character of each surface to shape the final work.
She also collaborates with individuals and groups who collect driftwood and remove beach litter for conservation, giving these materials renewed purpose while supporting responsible sourcing.
Through her work, Sallie Eley invites viewers to pause and reconnect with the natural world—capturing its beauty, preserving its fragility, and revealing new life in unexpected materials, offering a way to support more sustainable choices through art.
Sallie is also a practicing psychotherapist and believes deeply in the power of art as a mindful and restorative practice. She is excited to showcase her one-of-a-kind sustainable artworks in beautiful Devon, and hopes that Exeter will connect with the stories, textures, and sense of tranquillity captured within each unique piece.
