Handmade Christmas 🎄

Times are hard for so many people this festive season so I thought I’d share a cheap and easy christmas craft to do this winter (they’d make really cute gift tags too) I have SO many ideas for inexpensive crafts that I’m tempted to start a little series or make a little zine with! It’s also a really good way to reuse packaging ♻️

All you need is:

📦 Any cardboard packaging (supermarkets often have boxes going spare)
🖍️ A white pen/white pencil crayon/white paint
✂️ Scissors to cut the cardboard
🪡 Needle and thread/wool to attach their hands together and make a garland
✏️ A pencil to poke the holes

Happy World Book Day! 📚

This was one of those magical days I remember from my childhood where school suddenly seemed like the best thing in the world. I loved dressing up as my favourite characters but most importantly loved the book fair trolleys that would come in with shiny new books to buy at breaktime!

I was a very shy and sensitive little lamb at school and I just know that if a book like ‘The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and the Horse’ existed back then would have brought me great comfort and I would’ve read it again and again. One of my favourite quotes from the book is: “The fox never really speaks” whispered the boy. “No, and it’s lovely he is with us” said the Horse.

Coming from someone who would quite often go quiet with, seemingly, no reason or struggled to pitch in in a conversation this made me feel so acknowledged. Thank you for creating a book filled with not only beautiful illustrations but with things my younger (and older) self needed to hear 🌿

Even on a dreary Sunday morning, today’s walk was fruitful. Anyone that knows me knows that I love all things wildlife, I could quite happily spend the day saving snails and watching birds eat beakful after beakful of mealworms. Today is RSPB’s Big Garden Bird Watch so my mum and I went on a wander to one of our favourite walking spots and we managed to spot robins, blue t**s, blackbirds and dunnocks 🐦‍⬛

Can’t quite believe that January has started on such a high, this week has seen the chilliest and sunniest days we’ve had in a while (which to anyone that knows me is my favourite weather). We’ve also welcomed two new boys to the family and they are adorable. Their names are Kai and Kevin, two of the cutest brothers adopted from such a lovely rescue and they’re settling in so well. I never knew how I’d feel getting new guinea pigs after losing our boys just over a year ago but, although I know they will never replace W***y and Bri, they’re already filling a gap that I didn’t know existed 🌿

It’s been such a busy year for me in general with doing fun things and going to fun places, and I’ve probably had the least amount of time to actually draw and paint or focus on my business but it’s lovely to look back on all of the portraits that have made their way into the homes of lovely couples and families over the past year ☀️
