Some couples are choosing to mix both dried and fresh flowers. I always offer the option for a bridal bouquet to be either fresh or dried to my couples.
So let’s talk through the pros and cons of both options:
Benefits to dried bouquets:
Everlasting Mementos: dried flowers can last for years, serving as a permanent reminder of your special day.
Eco-Friendly Choice: Dried flowers are often more sustainable, especially when locally grown, as they require no refrigeration and produce less waste.
Dried cons:
Slightly more fragile but it’s your bouquet so you’re going to treat it with care because it’s so special(!)
Certain varieties don’t hold their scent in the drying process, (a rose is a good example as it doesn’t hold scent but Eucalyptus does!)
Benefited to fresh flowers:
Symbolic Tradition: Many couples choose fresh stems to honour centuries-old traditions where flowers represent new beginnings, fidelity, and hope.
Eco-Friendly Lifecycle: While they don't last forever, fresh flowers are fully biodegradable and can be composted or gifted to guests after the event to reduce waste.
If scent is important to you then you can only get this with fresh flowers!
Fresh bouquet cons:
Unless they have been grown locally they can travel many miles around the world before they get to you and this has a massive impact on our planet.
They do die but if you get them back to me within 48 hours of the wedding I can preserve it for you and we turn a negative into a positive 🤣
Then the choice is yours but I hope this helps!?
