Feeling very privileged to be asked todo another flower based craft for Jimmy and Shivis Farmhouse series 3. This was live last Sunday for those of us who missed it!?

These guys are always so welcoming and genuinely interested and it was lovely to meet .

This has been a real test to push myself outside of my comfort zone but I’m super proud to have achieved this and to anyone who’s holding back from trying something new, I would highly recommend giving yourself that little push, as you might surprise yourself and even enjoy it!

It’s a conversation I don’t like bringing up when discussing your wedding day but a plan b in the event of bad weather does still need to be in place to ensure your day is still a magical one!

As a 2025 bride who’s own wedding day had almost every season in one day, including rain☔️ , what is my advice?
The week of our wedding I was checking the weather constantly and it stressed me out so much. However there came a moment a couples of days before when I realised it didn’t matter how many sausages I planted in the ground(!) It wasn’t going to change mother natures course and I had to embrace whatever was coming our way!
On the day it self I was a little disappointed and I was so worried about our guests but no one allowed it to ruin the day and we both look back on it and laugh!
Plus the images captured in the rain by Suffolk Family Photographer are some of my favourite and take pride of place in our home.

Floral crowns are a wonderful expression of individuality and creativity.
They can be worn with your hair up or down, on their own, with a veil or as an addition to your evening outfit.
If you’re considering a crown, talk to your hairdresser while having your hair trials, they can offer helpful suggestions about how one could work best for your hair style.

We then talk through inspiration, colours and designing your personalised floral crown for your wedding.

Some couples are choosing to mix both dried and fresh flowers. I always offer the option for a bridal bouquet to be either fresh or dried to my couples.
So let’s talk through the pros and cons of both options:

Benefits to dried bouquets:
Everlasting Mementos: dried flowers can last for years, serving as a permanent reminder of your special day.

Eco-Friendly Choice: Dried flowers are often more sustainable, especially when locally grown, as they require no refrigeration and produce less waste.

Dried cons:
Slightly more fragile but it’s your bouquet so you’re going to treat it with care because it’s so special(!)
Certain varieties don’t hold their scent in the drying process, (a rose is a good example as it doesn’t hold scent but Eucalyptus does!)

Benefited to fresh flowers:
Symbolic Tradition: Many couples choose fresh stems to honour centuries-old traditions where flowers represent new beginnings, fidelity, and hope.
Eco-Friendly Lifecycle: While they don't last forever, fresh flowers are fully biodegradable and can be composted or gifted to guests after the event to reduce waste.
If scent is important to you then you can only get this with fresh flowers!

Fresh bouquet cons:
Unless they have been grown locally they can travel many miles around the world before they get to you and this has a massive impact on our planet.
They do die but if you get them back to me within 48 hours of the wedding I can preserve it for you and we turn a negative into a positive 🤣

Then the choice is yours but I hope this helps!?

As the animals start thinking about hibernating I start to pack away some of my flowers that I don’t need for the remainder of the year.
Flowers that have become a little tatty over the season are turned into confetti and the rest are safely boxes away for the winter!

I also love the autumn for picking the last flourish of flowers, hops have to be my favourite as they are becoming harder to find so when I do it’s like finding gold!!

The bouquet is quite honestly the most important piece for a florist. Seeing your happy face the morning of the wedding makes my day! To all those who have and are going to give me the privilege of being trusted with such a special honour, thank you x
