Today’s view from the office…….. actually is going to be an office !

A small but exciting space for the client and her family to get the best use of this room off the hallway and it’s going to be amazing.

Upholstery……….its sort of like wallpapering for furniture 🪑 🤔

I don’t do much in the way of furniture restoration these days because I’m busy with design and decorating clients but occasionally I do a little project here and there.

The task here was to replace some badly worn out covers on these dining room chairs and whilst the temptation might have been to throw them away, they’ve now got a new lease of life for years to come ☺️

What do I think will be popular in 2026 ?

It can be a bit risky to say what’s cool and trendy in design and decorating because fashions change and we all like different things, how boring would it be if we all liked the same things though !

A few years ago everyone wanted chrome light switches and sockets, Edison type light bulbs were popular but nobody wanted brass. Oh how things change; brushed brass is popular again but I can see Edison light bulbs being on wane.

Grey and magnolia colours have definitely had their day (I think most would agree) but what’s still popular and I think will continue to be is panelling and colour drenched walls in pastel colours. Complimenting the room with furniture in opposite colours or subtle personal effects (pictures, mirrors etc) really changes a space and don’t underestimate the importance of how a room is dressed at the end of a project because it absolutely makes the space come into its own. Dare I say but I actually think a revival of the Art Deco style of design will be making a comeback 🤔

We’ve had a lot of new people join us recently (almost 2,000 of you now across our channels👋), so it felt like a good time to reintroduce ourselves!

I’m David, founder of Koops & Co and usually the person you’ll be dealing with from start to finish.

I’ve worked in the Isle of Man property market for over 15 years and started Koops & Co because I genuinely felt things could be done better. Less pressure, more honesty, and actually taking the time to look after people properly.

I moved to the Island from the UK when I was in primary school and have lived here ever since. This is home for me and my family, and the community we’re part of is a huge reason why Koops & Co exists in the first place.

When I’m not working, I’m usually out with the kids, down by the beach, or being kept on my toes by our two rabbits, Carrot and Muffin.

If you’re thinking about buying, selling, or just want a bit of advice, I’m always happy to have a chat.

The Heart and Home business model.

My approach is different; I offer a creative approach towards decorating which starts at the interior design stage and ultimately that is what drives me. I create mood boards with ideas, build things like feature walls, install panelling, help select lighting, furniture and consider “will this work in this space” even before I paint or hang wallpaper.

Don’t get me wrong there are some great decorators on the Island but some clients dont just want a room decorated they want something more and I can help. Some have crystal clear ideas of their own and that’s brilliant and I’m there to make their space perfect.

Here’s the thing though………if you see a picture of something you like in a magazine or on Pinterest generally I can recreate it, I can see that vision in my minds eye and I can do it most of the time on a limited budget.

I believe in good design for everyone, not just Hollywood superstars ♥️ and you definitely don’t need a Hollywood bank account to have a beautiful home.

A year in design and decorating 🥰

First of all a huge thankyou to all of my clients who have put their trust in me this year with their homes and businesses and let me loose with my ideas and paint brush, but especially to the clients who have let me talk you round to doing things differently (you know who you are 😉).

The year started off with Diva Salon on Finch Road (how is that a year ago Shannon!) and ended with a pink bedroom for a five year old girl. Regardless of the project though the client is so important to me and getting it right and listening to people’s needs is key to good design and decorating. I’ve said this before but putting paint on walls is easy, it’s the preparation and time spent beforehand that’s important and that time starts with an initial meeting and a coffee ☕️.

Next year sees some exciting projects on the horizon and I cant wait.

Best wishes for the holiday season to and I attach some of the highlights of my year, thankyou also to everyone who follows my page, it really means a lot to me and I hope that even if you don’t use me for your projects that sometimes you see things you like that inspire you, after all magnolia is not the only colour !

“Let’s not live in grey and magnolia homes 🏡 “

Okay so there was nothing really wrong with this hallway before but we can do so much more to make your space a more personal and enjoyable place to be with imagination and creativity.

For this project I fitted panels up the stairs and round the lower hallway and these have been painted in the same “wild mushroom” as the doors.

Above the panels I’ve used a wallpaper called “Casa Floral” and then in the lower hallway I’ve used “Roman serenade” pink on the ceiling which complements the wallpaper perfectly and is so much more warming and pleasing to the eye than a regular white ceiling.

Upstairs I wanted to do something different but I also wanted the colours to still complement the wallpaper so I picked out the green of the paper and used “wild hillside” which again lifts the upper floor which has no natural light so it couldn’t be too dark.

This has been a brilliant transition and makes the hallway feel bigger but also gives an otherwise ordinary space come alive with colour and interest.
