About Shady Lady Lampshade Co....
ShadyLadyLampshadeCo is now in its third year, following a happy accident when I discovered a pretty, vintage lampshade discarded on a skip! It was rescued, taken home and washed, and then listed on eBay. From there began my fascination and love affair with these beautiful, yet functional objects.
Since then, my lampshades have been sold nationwide, and also to Europe and the USA. Clients include hotels, B&Bs, theatres and production companies, schools, shops, pubs and restaurants, as well as many private buyers.
I stock vintage and vintage style lampshades of all sizes, from small clip-on shades suitable for candlestick lamps and chandeliers, to the largest lampshades suitable for standard (floor standing) lamps, and anything in between. The main criteria is that the shades have a metal frame with a fabric outer surface, rather than the more modern drum shades with a stiff plastic or card lining.
All lampshades are washed or thoroughly cleaned prior to being offered for sale. Trims and decorations are upgraded where required, if the original ones are ‘tired’ or damaged, by the addition new fringes, braids, beads and tassels. I particularly enjoy this part of the process, as I previously made wedding dresses, and so enjoy all the embellishment and attention to small detail! Therefore I can offer a bespoke service, creating a lampshade to your individual requirements.
