OPEN CALL FOR ART - "The Message of Hope" Exhibition and Fundraiser
Submissions are now open for the second edition of The Message of Hope, a project dedicated to mental health awareness and su***de prevention.
World Su***de Prevention Day is happening each year in September and serves as a reminder to come together, open up conversations around mental health and create space for support and connection. This exhibition is my way of contributing to that, and of bringing people together through creativity and care.
All proceeds from the exhibition will go towards mental health and su***de prevention charities. Last year, we raised £900 together, which was shared evenly between Mind and Samaritans. I am really hoping we can build on that again this year, together.
The exhibition will take place at .cafe.plymouth from 10–13 September. Alongside the artwork, there will be live music, food and collage workshops.
SUBMISSIONS DETAILS:
• This year’s theme is GOLD and PURPLE , and both colours MUST be included in the artwork, even in a small detail. GOLD for hope, warmth and optimism. Purple for strength, survival and resilience. Together, they reflect perseverance and holding space for healing.
• I am looking for art that illuminates themes of hope. The work should feel uplifting, empowering, and carry a sense of light and emotional depth without heaviness.
• While I predominantly ask for collage art, all other mediums are also very welcome, including mixed media, 3D artwork, ATC, assemblage, embroidery, textile, jewellery, ceramic, poetry, photography, painting, printmaking techniques or drawing.
• once you create your artwork, share it on Instagram and tag using .message.of.hope tag
If you would like to support the running of the exhibition, donations are deeply appreciated (“Buy Me a Coffee” - link in my Instagram Linktree.)
