Changing seasons - The beauty of Spring

Blossom opening along the branches, robins darting through the garden, and blackbirds singing as the evenings stretch a little longer each day. Spring reminds me that softness always follows the chaos of everyday life.

The beauty of this season is everywhere if we slow down enough to notice.

I was playing around with a few logo ideas for Halloween, and realised I prefer them for all year round and have narrowed it down to these three! I want my brand to have a more moody, gothic feel overall and I feel that this is the first step into that 🦇 which one is your favourite?

Dr. Frankenstein’s Green Pea Soup 💀🫛🪦

2 leeks
Around 50g butter
1 large potato (or 2 medium)
1 tsp garlic paste
1tsp garlic powder/granules
1 pint vegetable stock + 1 1/2 pints boiling water
6 cups frozen petit poi’s
Salt & pepper to taste

1. Cut the leeks into fairly thin slices, then wash them to remove any grit. (TIP- Leeks grow upwards so they do tend to have dirt in them sometimes and removing the outer layer doesn’t get it all. So washing them when sliced makes it easier to seperate the layers and wash them more thoroughly)
2. Place the butter in a large saucepan over medium/high heat and add the leeks. Whilst these are cooking down, dice the potato and add into the pan. Next, add in the garlic paste, stirring so it doesn’t catch (garlic burns easily and tastes bitter when it is, that’s why it’s best to add it later). Add the garlic granules, pepper, stock and water. Let cook for 15 minutes.
3. Add salt to taste, then the peas. Bring it back up to a boil and let simmer for 5 minutes. (TIP - add salt after the stock, as stock has salt in as well)
4. Once the soup is done, blend it with an immersion blender or food blender, and pass it through a sieve. This gives it a silky smooth texture and is a much more satisfying eating experience. Garnish with a drizzle of double cream and fresh pea shoots, if you’re feeling fancy. It’s perfect with a hunk of fresh homemade bread, slathered in butter. Happy soup season!🫶🏻🤎

Although I would happily have all this decor in my home all year long, here are some ways you can get an autumn feel without bright orange colours, ghosts and bats (I LOVE them all, but this is about being subtle) and ways to incorporate summerween into your space. Comment for the links to anything you like the look of and I’ll send it to you! Hope you love this as much as I loved creating it
