Studio chickens. We’ve had chooks for about 15 years. They’re hardy, impressively self sufficient and incredibly productive as well as being funny, beautiful, & very ‘dinosaurian’ garden pest predators. We’re down to 4 at the moment - our flock ranges between 7 and 3.
These hybrids are egg laying powerhouses - we get 3-4 eggs a day almost all year round - but they don’t live particularly long lives - between four and six years. The pure breeds live longer, but lay less.
Either way, it’s one of our many human ‘cognitive dissonance’ arrangements that I can love and cherish and fret about the welfare of my own chickens, but also regularly eat ‘farmed’ chicken in all its guises.

Feeling kind of coy 😬 about announcing this but we’re taking a summer break - slide 3 shows we’re actually pretty excited. 😁

We’ll be closing the studio from 23 June - 21 July. Jude is taking a well earned longer break and I’ll be floating around in a very, very leisurely way.

Orders are very welcome, but they won’t be made or shipped until mid July.

Queries are welcome, but likewise, please don’t expect a quick response.

If there is something you have your eye on and need it before the end of July, please get your order in ASAP.
