October 21st 2026 marks the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan Disaster. 🕰️ 🖤 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
Here’s my memorial sculpture to the lives lost that harrowing day. Now on permanent display at Rhondda Heritage Park.

Aptly called 21.10.1966 144 9.13AM, it’s made from concrete and corten steel. It contains 144 clocks – the same number of adults and children who died when a colliery spoil tip collapsed into homes and Pantglas Junior School. Each of the clocks are set to 9.13am - the exact time the disaster happened, on October 21, 1966.

As a Welsh man who grew up a stones throw away from Aberfan, taking on such a subject was challenging & emotional. I researched and met with family (during its creation in 2021) of the man in the original photo which I based the sculpture on. I felt it was important to remain respectful but also create a piece of art that educates future generations.

Thousands across Wales fall silent on October 21 each year in remembrance of Aberfan. The devastating loss caused by the tragedy, as well as the impact it had on not only survivors, but the Aberfan community for generations, will never be forgotten.

Another print… another space organised ☺️

For those of you wondering why on earth I was printing a small toilet this week 😂 little miss requested furniture to fit these dolls and even picked the colours. I’m very pleased with how they turned out ☺️
