A display shelf? How about a whole display wall?

Some see design as a way to solve a problem or make a space look better.
At Di Oro Interiors, design is about creating spaces that bring joy.

And this glamorous display wall has certainly given people a moment to pause, admire, and enjoy.

It all started with the onyx slabs. Large, thin porcelain tiles were fixed to the walls, just above skirting height.
(Imagine how heavy they must have been.)

Then came the gold trims and LED strip lights, mounted on either side of the slabs.
(Of course, the wall was not perfectly straight, so a neat solution was needed to conceal the gaps.)

The white shelves with gold inlays were then installed, shining like stars against the crystal-clear surface of the onyx sky.
(No problems this time? Try levelling all of them on an uneven floor.)

To complete the look, an elegant storage cupboard was placed at the bottom.
(And yes, there was some careful scribing to do around the edges, thankfully with an electric saw on hand.)

And here it is: an effortlessly elegant display wall, created to hold all the necessities our clients required.

When I first got my house in the UK I didn’t have space for a proper dining area. And honestly… I know so many people here can relate to that. Beautiful homes, but somehow never quite enough room for the way you actually want to live.

But over the years, both personally and through many projects, I have realised something: the spaces that challenge you the most often end up becoming the most interesting.

Not having enough room doesn’t always mean something is missing. Sometimes it simply means you have to think differently.

➡️ A small corner can become the focus point of the entire room.
➡️ An empty window can become your go-to place for relaxation.
➡️ An obstacle can become the very thing that makes a space feel unique and personal.

In design (just like in life) everything is about perspective!
The moment you stop focusing on what a space is not, you start seeing what it could be 💡

Did you expect the “before” picture? 🤔

If you swiped far enough, you’ll have seen what this fireplace wall looked like before.
Yes, the transformation feels quite radical, but here is what is interesting:
➡️ Structurally, very little actually changed.

The original fireplace remained, the existing low cabinetry was incorporated into the new design, and even the ceiling saw very little alteration.

At first glance, this living room elevation from our Lisvane Detached House project may appear dramatic. But beneath the bold colours and layered textures lies something far more meaningful: a design rooted in emotion rather than excess.

This special room was created around a feeling many of us know well, though rarely think to consciously design for: the comfort of an autumn evening spent at home.

The quiet ritual of lighting the fire, settling into the sofa while a favourite film plays in the background, and watching the outside world grow darker while everything inside feels warm, calm, and familiar.

In the end, it is not the scale of change that defines a space, but the feeling it leaves behind once you are in it 💡

Soo many extras we don’t charge for 🤔
And yet we still love our jobs!

It wouldn’t be the same if it didn’t involve a little bit of convincing, a bit of negotiating, and definitely some creative translation between partners who don’t always speak the same “design language.”

Somewhere along the way, it also becomes about giving you permission to upgrade things you didn’t even realise needed changing and gently pushing ideas that suddenly start to feel like “why didn’t we do this sooner?”

Before you know it, your standards change and all of a sudden, familiar spaces don’t seem the same anymore. You start noticing things you never used to think about twice.

Don’t forget about those strong opinions on your chair attachment 😉

Which point is most accurate?

There are moments in a home that aren’t planned, yet somehow become everything ✨

This sitting area in our Lisvane Detached House was shaped around those in-between times: the quiet pause with a favourite TV show at the end of the day, a conversation that drifts without direction, the comfort of simply being side by side.

Designed for clients who cherish togetherness, the U-shaped sofa gently wraps the space, creating a sense of enclosure without feeling confined. It invites you to sit a little longer, to turn toward one another, to remain in the moment just a bit more.

Opposite, the window seat offers a different kind of retreat, a place to sit with a morning coffee, to watch a loved one leave the house, or to share a quiet glance that says more than words ever could.

Textures are thoughtfully considered. Rich-coloured upholstery, deep brown tones, and layered textiles create depth without distraction.

This is not just a place to sit. It is a place where those small, everyday moments are meant to unfold.

If your space could be shaped around the way you truly live, what would it look like? Let us know in the comments 👇🏻

Meet Jeremiah! 👋🏻

A luxury floral designer in London, working for some of the city’s most prestigious hotels like Claridge’s, The Berkeley, and The Emory 📍

But what you don’t see at first glance is the story behind it all…

The first time I met Jeremiah at Claridge’s, there was something about him that instantly made me smile. He turned out to be warm, open, and full of joy. The kind of person who puts you at ease without even trying.

We stayed in touch ever since, and with every conversation, I find myself more drawn into his journey. It is one of those stories that stays with you for longer - deeply human and incredibly inspiring. (I really hope one day he’ll share it himself.)

Today felt like stepping into his world. He showed me around his beautiful back garden, a space he has built with so much care and intention, sharing little tips, ideas, and moments of inspiration along the way.

Somewhere between the blooms and the stories, I felt transported… not quite Tuscany, but close enough 🌿🍋

(Though I’m still dreaming of a glass of wine in the sunshine… next time, Jeremiah? 😉)

A floor plan is never just a drawing 👇🏻

Most people look at a floor plan as something fixed: a finished answer on paper.

But in reality, it is closer to a negotiation than a drawing: a negotiation between what a space wants to be, what it can be, and what it is allowed to be.

This is not an easy conversation; it takes time, testing out of potential options, and a willingness to let early ideas evolve into something greater.

The result?
Never the same, and that is the beauty of it.

It is also the reason why explaining the process is just as important as the outcome itself, because what you see at the end only makes sense when you understand how it got there.

How do you approach space planning?
Are you surprised by any of the stages?

When love lingers in the smallest moments, a house quietly becomes a story. ✨

This space was never meant to be just a dining room. It was imagined as a backdrop to a life already rich with laughter, shared glances and the kind of comfort that only comes from truly knowing someone.

Recently completed for one of our clients in Cardiff, this set of visualisations began with something simple: understanding who they are when no one else is watching. The way they laugh, the way they move through their home, the quiet rituals that make their everyday feel special.

Look closely and imagine it for yourself. The familiar sound of a chair being pulled out, the gentle overlap of conversation and laughter. It is a home shaped by two people who simply enjoy being together.

At the heart of the room sits a table. Its soft rounded form anchors the space. Around it, a mix of seating creates a subtle sense of enclosure, reinforcing connection.

Smooth wooden surfaces meet soft upholstery. Natural finishes sit alongside refined details. There is contrast, but no conflict. Every material adds depth without overwhelming, mirroring the balance between playfulness and calm that defines them.

This space does not shout for attention, but invites you in to be part of something genuine.

If this approach to design sounds like something you have been searching for, maybe it is time to start telling your own story through your space.

What would yours say about you?

Happy Easter everyone 🌿

This season, we’re pausing to celebrate more than chocolate eggs and spring blooms. We’re celebrating you - our community, clients and collaborators, who make this journey richer, brighter, and more meaningful ☀️

Easter and springtime remind us of renewal and gentle transformation - much like the wreaths we create every single year. Each carefully placed element reflects care and the joy of bringing something new to life. In the same way, the connections we share bring life and meaning to our days, shaping the work we love and the community we cherish.

Thank you for being part of this shared journey. For the connections that inspire, the curiosity that drives, and the energy that reminds us why we do what we do. Your presence makes the path forward brighter, and your trust fuels the work we love.

Here’s to reflection, gratitude, and embracing the fresh possibilities that bloom around us. May your Easter be filled with warmth, joy, and the gentle reminder that every small moment of gratitude creates something extraordinary 🐣✨

Have you created your Easter wreath this year? Let us know in the comments! 💛

3 extra questions to ask 👇🏻

When creating a layout for your open-plan kitchen, it is vital to plan ahead and consider all the possible options carefully before committing to any one choice. Asking yourself the right questions at the start and picturing possible scenarios will help you eliminate any obstacles you might encounter in the future.

Here is our list of 6 questions you need to ask yourself before making any decisions:

1️⃣ What views do you want to see when washing and cooking?
2️⃣ How many people will be using the space at one time?
3️⃣ How do you envisage yourself using the space?
4️⃣ How does the natural light travel through the space?
5️⃣ How much and what type of storage do you need?
6️⃣ How do you want the kitchen to “feel”? Spatially, not visually.

Planning for function and flow is key to creating a kitchen that works in harmony with the rest of your home 💡

Think about how you will move through the space. For example, how easily will you be able to access everything you need while cooking or cleaning? The workflow between prep areas, cooking stations, and cleanup zones is essential to ensuring efficiency.

Additionally, consider the evolution of the space over time. How will your needs change as your family grows or as your lifestyle evolves? An adaptable kitchen layout is one that not only works for your current needs but can also evolve with you, allowing you to seamlessly integrate new features or adjust the space as necessary.

Save this video to keep the questions saved for the next time you might need them! 👈🏻
