Shelves should be useful and beautiful. Here I used brackets that double up hooks and framed the shelves with MDF moulding to create a feature that works perfectly in this teen bedroom.

I used rich but muted reds and pinks in this oak framed extension to complement the wood and brick, whilst allowing them to take centre stage. All furniture is pre-loved to help the space look as though it has been there for years. Lighting is by Tom Raffield and Nkuku. The Everhot stove adds character and an extra oven or heat source if needed. I love furniture and appliances that multitask!

A cosy corner is even more important when it’s February and it’s raining outside!

We all deserve a cosy living room to retreat to. This one needed a lot of TLC but is now a hug of a room. The starting point was uncovering the brick fireplace to create a focal point. I scrubbed away years of soot and plaster then added a wooden mantle, created from wood found in the loft. All the furniture came from Facebook Marketplace, Gumtree and family hand downs, including an Ercol chair that I had reupholstered.
