Trying to choose between bi-fold & pocket doors for your pantry cupboard? Here’s a little demo from John which might just help you decide.

Bi-fold doors fold back on themselves, so they need a little clearance either side, but they’re quick to open one-handed.

Pocket doors slide away completely into the cabinetry, disappearing from view entirely, but they need a cavity built into the design from the start.

Neither is “better” - it depends on your layout and how you’ll use the space day to day. Why not come and try both for yourself at our Tunbridge Wells showroom, where you will find both of these displays.

At the centre of this farmhouse kitchen is a freestanding island painted in Farrow & Ball’s Bancha, a deep, complex green that carries the weight of a well-worn wax jacket.

The green hue is then complemented by a worktop in Caesarstone Empira White Quartz that reflects the light beautifully and provides a clean, crisp contrast to the hand-painted finish.

Sitting in deliberate contrast at one end is a thick walnut chopping board, its end grain dark and richly patterned, a biophilic nod to the pastoral, country house character of the cabinetry.

Our beautifully proportioned chef’s table with its fluted, stained oak legs look as if it might well predate the fitted cabinetry of the room it sits in entirely, assuming the role of a cherished family heirloom to be passed on to future generations.

Hidden within the deep drawers of this table are clever storage details: a secret pull-out for spices and a dedicated slot for knives which creates a sense of theatre and a clutter-free worktop.

On the other side we opted for a ‘cut-away knee hole’ to comfortably seat three barstools and create an additional family social space.

As a finishing touch we chose a premium Calacatta marble top, in bright crisp white with dramatic grey veining and rounded bullnose edge, so circling back to our showroom’s own architectural heritage with the edge profile echoing the mouldings running around the ceiling above.

Earlier this week we had the pleasure of visiting one of our lovely clients and their finished kitchen. We asked what they’re enjoying most about the design and this bespoke cubbyhole came up straight away.

Tucked into the island, it was designed to fit their four handmade wooden trays - two large, two small - and it fits them perfectly. No wasted space, no awkward stacking, just a special spot made to measure for a specific purpose.

It’s a small feature, but it says everything about how we work. Every drawer, cubby and corner of a Rencraft kitchen is built around how you actually live, not just how it looks.

Hit the link in our bio to find out more about our luxury kitchens which are truly bespoke, from the big statement pieces down to the smallest cubbyhole.

These pocket doors live in the breakfast pantry of our farmhouse kitchen display, right here in our Tunbridge Wells showroom basement. Slide them open and they both vanish flush into the wall - no handles, no fuss, no clutter.

It’s a small detail that makes a big difference - especially in a pantry where you want the option to hide the mess (we see you, cereal boxes) without losing an inch of space to a swinging door.

Come and see (and slide) them for yourself in our Tunbridge Wells showroom.

Take a peek behind the design of a boot room built to actually work as John walks through every detail of the basement display in our Tunbridge Wells showroom.

From hanging space for coats and a dedicated spot for walking sticks, through to a hidden bench that lifts open for muddy boots and a run of shoe nooks and pegs, every inch of this boot room has been planned around how a family actually comes through the door. Even the cupboards do double duty, one fitted out for extra hanging space, the other for shelving.

Visit the boot room in person at our Tunbridge Wells showroom, or get in touch to start designing yours.

What does a luxury kitchen design service really mean?
It’s creativity. It’s expert knowledge. It’s the relationship you build with your designer.

But true luxury often lives in the smallest details and going that extra mile to track down something you’ll genuinely love, perhaps even something you never knew existed until it was in front of you.

This urban contemporary kitchen, tucked in the basement of our Tunbridge Wells showroom, was built to make a statement - a super-chunky quartz worktop houses a Gaggenau hob, set against a copper splashback aged to a soft verdigris green and brick slips lining the chimney breast.

Bold, modern, unapologetically edgy. Come and see it for yourself at our Tunbridge Wells showroom.

Some dream kitchens look even better in real life, and this is exactly one of those moments. Watching our designer Sarah see this space filled with our client’s possessions, and being used and lived in for the first time, never gets old. Especially as this is her second kitchen project for this lovely client, and their rapport is clear to see.

From the very first meeting to the final coat of hand-painted finish, our clients work with one designer throughout their entire luxury kitchen design journey. No handovers, no starting the story over, just one person who knows your home, your taste and your project from day one to the last brushstroke.
