My first project of 2026 completed. The dark green was tired and scuffed so in came I love the idea of a built in bookcase type media wall but I had to work with the existing units so with (a lot of) help from my other half, we adapted Ikea shelving, added and LED strip lighting and poached an assortment of nick-nacks from around the house to dress the shelves (work in progress....!)

I squeezed a budget friendly bathroom refresh in before Xmas. It wasn't that I didn't like the dark blue, it's just that it had been like that a few years and was getting tired. It's a 15 year old bathroom, which has seen pale blue and grey before the indigo and now the by Yes, I'd LOVE a new bathroom but for now I'm content with a fresh lick of paint (left over from another project), new towels and bath mat, new blind, new tap/waste/toilet flush and soap dispenser. I even painted the clock and ceiling light in some mat black paint I had spare. I finally painted the ceiling too, something I've chickened out of in other projects. About £150 spent in total for a fresh new look 😊

Just when I thought the bedroom project was done, I spotted a perfect fit pine chest of drawers on marketplace to replace the existing bedside table that was lower than the one opposite, and black (I couldn't face sanding it back to wood). Never one to let the grass grow, I picked it up NYE and here it is, sanded, stained, varnished and in its new home already! NOW, the bedroom is complete...probably...

I've been working on some decoration and makeovers at home over the last few weeks. Here's my daughter's bedroom, previously decorated for her 11th Birthday, and now 14, she was wanting something a bit more mature. So, pine furniture was sanded and repainted, fresh wall paint, wallpaper, oversized frames and prints, new bedding, 'new' freebie market place bed and to top it all, a new ikea pax wardrobe. This will be the tidiest it will ever be....😅

My first attempt at re-upholstering (if you can call staple-gunning fabric re-upholstering 😅). A long overdue job left from our bedroom makeover. The mustard velvet seat was fine, if a little worn, but didn't suit the over all bedroom scheme. So out with that, and in with a black and white striped design to tie in with the green striped bedding.
